11-27 (Monday)

Students took notes on the states of matter emphasizing the Kinetic theory, and the states of matter (definitions) and examples.

11-28 (Tuesday)

Students continued taking notes from the PowerPoint emphasizing the way that the Kinetic theory draws the states of matter and the involvement of energy in the changes of states.  We concluded by stating defining, and describing the 6 Phase Changes in the states of matter.

11-29 (Wednesday)

We took notes and discussed the involvement of energy in the phase changes, how to read graphs and thermal expansion.

11-13-17 (Monday)

Students completed taking notes and discussing the notes from Classification of Matter on the PowerPoint.  We discussed ways to classify types of mixtures, the Tyndall effect and how you can identify mixtures.  We also examined the law of conservation of matter.  They were informed of the Classification of Matter Voc Test and Chapter Test on Wednesday.

11-14-17 (Tuesday)

Students completed the Properties of Matter Seek-n-Find 28 pts) in class and began the Chapter Review (76 pts) in class; to be completed for homework.  They will have the Classification of Matter Voc Test and Chapter Test on tomorrow.

11/6/17 (Monday)

Students completed the Penny Drop and/or Toilet Tissue Lab which emphasized the use of the "Scientific Method" in application.  They then completed the data analysis and conclusion from the Lab Directions.

11/7/17 (Tuesday)

Students worked on the "Matter & Temperature" Review Questions (60 pts) using the textbook in preparation for the Classification of Matter concepts.

Students took the Scientific Method and Measurements Test (100 pts) in class when the bell rang.  Then they began and completed the Classification of Matter Vocabulary (38 pts) for homework.  We will have two labs tomorrow in class, so come dressed correctly.

Students were allowed to go over the answers to the "Simpsons" WS after they turned in their homework.  Then, we took the Scientific Method Quiz (50 pts).  They then began the Scientific Method, Measurements and Conversions Ch. Rev. (82 pts).  They will have a Ch. Test on the Scientific Method, Conversions and Measurements (100 pts) tomorrow.  A lab will follow on Friday.

We reviewed the "Scientific Method in Action" WS (20 pts) and the 6.6-1 WS (28 pts) and then the students completed the "Simpson" WS in class (44 pts).  They will have a Scientific Method Quiz (50 pts) tomorrow and take the Scientific Method Ch. Rev. (85 pts).  They will also have the Sci. Method and Measurements Test (100 pts) on Thursday.

Students finished the final slide on the Scientific Method PowerPoint notes.  Then we went over a practice WS on the Scientific Method identifying the independent and dependent variables and the control/experimental groups.  We then completed in class the "Scientific Method in Action" WS (20 pts) and the 6.6-1 WS (28 pts).  There will be a Scientific Method Quiz on Wednesday and Chapter Test on the Scientific Method and Measurements on Thursday.  They will also need to dress for a lab on Friday.
