Students took the "Elements & their Properties" Chapter Test today.  We reviewed the correct answers to the Chapter Test and the Chapter Review prior to the Chapter test.  After finishing the test, they began the next chapter's vocabulary.  The "Chemical Bonding" Vocabulary is due tomorrow.  All 10th graders will be taking the ACT Aspire test on Friday.

Students took the "Elements & Properties" Vocabulary Test today.  After the test, they began the "Elements & Properties" Chapter Review to prepare for tomorrow's Chapter test.

Students will complete three worksheets in class today to review for the Vocabulary test that is scheduled for tomorrow.  They will complete the "Element Code" worksheet (38 pts) which uses clues to determine elements, a "Periodic Table Relationships" WS (36 pts) to determine understanding of the organization of the Periodic Table and have a "Do I know my chemical symbols?" poptest. The chapter test on Chemical Bonding will be on Wednesday.

Today, we completed the characteristics of Groups 14, 15 and 16 of the Periodic Table.  As well, we came up with uses for certain elements in those groups.  Class was concluded as students completed the "Elements and Properties" Seek-n-Find with questions on uses for all elements of the Periodic Table.  They were given a Review Guide (100pts) to complete for homework in preparation for the "Elements & Properties" Vocabulary Test tomorrow.  The "Elements & Properties" Chapter Test will be on Thursday, Jan. 14.

Today, we continue the SI Lab that was discussed and begun yesterday.  We are aiming to learn the SI units, prefixes and how they apply to everyday life.  The SI Lab worksheet (100 pts) is due at the end of class.  Work hard and learn, learn, learn the SI units.  The lab should be completed today.

We defined the key terms from the chapter on Radioactivity.  Soon after, we began viewing the movie, The Day After.  It is a movie that gives the students an idea about the effects of radioactivity and it is apart of our lives today.  Questions will follow.  All students were advised to pick up the 2nd Semester Review for their test on Thursday and next week.

Students took the notes that we took in class and used them to answer the Work & Machines Vocabulary Test (44 pts) and the Work & Machines Chapter Test (100 pts).  Then, we used the spare time to complete the Review Questions and Crossword Puzzles that they had not finished.  Students were encouraged to pick up the 2nd Sem. Exam Review Guide.

Students completed a "Types of Levers" WS, Word Search, and MA Word Problem WS in class.    We completed the Work & Machines Lecture WS.

We continued to work on the "Work & Machines" Lecture Worksheet and answering the questions.  We discussed the classes of levers, types of simple machines and how they are all classified.  Tomorrow we will handle worksheets w/the types of levers and calculate mechanical advantage (MA)

Students were given a Guided Reading Worksheet for Work & Machines.  Then, we went over the definition and formula for calculating Work.  Afterwards, students worked 3 practice problems w/work, force, and distance and received a Work Word Problem WS (20 pts).   Following 15 minutes of work time, students then went back to the Lecture Worksheet and were given the information and discussion on Power and it's calculations.  Class was concluded with a Word Problem Worksheet on Power (20 pts).  Both worksheets are due 7th period.
