Today, we took notes and discussed Newton's 3rd Law of Motion, Centripetal forces and acceleration, weight and calculated momentum. We concluded class with a Momentum word problem worksheet (20 pts).
Category: Physical Science
Friction/Gravity/Weight
We continued the notes on types of friction and gravity. Students learned the 3 types of friction, what causes gravity and the effect of gravity on weight. We concluded class with the learning of the acceleration of gravity and the calculation of weight by using the Weight Word Problem WS (20 pts).
Friction
Students read the remainder of Ch. 3, Sec. 1 that talks about friction, it's types and it's causes to learn how to read and summarize the key concepts. Then we compared the notes from their readings to the notes from the PowerPoint.
Forces
Students read Sec. 2 of the Forces chapter and wrote down the important facts. Afterwards, we discussed and reviewed the notes with the PowerPoint so that student's could correct what they misunderstood.
Newton’s 2nd Law of Motion
Students were challenged to read the 1st Section of the Forces chapter. As they read, they determined AND wrote down the vital information which was discussed later in the chapter. Then, we compared their important items w/the items from the Teacher's PowerPoint. Then, we worked problems on Newton's 2nd Law of Motion for homework.
Forces
Students began the vocabulary on "Forces". They were to complete the Vocabulary (36 pts) and then complete the "Forces" Review Questions for homework. (50 pts)
Speed Lab
Students were given their Data Sheet from the Speed Lab on last Thursday. We reviewed the formulas for speed and acceleration. Then, we went over each question and how to work on the Data Sheet for the Speed Lab. Students were then given the remainder of the class period to complete the data sheet for a 100 pt grade. Those who did not finish were assigned the sheet for homework.
Motion Lab
Students began the actual walking and running 10 yds, 40 yds, and determining acceleration for a 40 yd activity. We performed the activities outside and determined the times. We will complete the calculations when we return from Spring Break on the Speed Lab (100 pts)
Motion
We reviewed the answers to the Motion Chapter Review (50 pts). Then, we went over the answers to the Motion Vocabulary Test (26 pts). Students then took the Motion Chapter Test (100 pts). Afterwards, they began the Vocabulary for "Forces" (36 pts).
Motion
Today, students were allowed to use their textbook to complete the Motion Chapter Review using their textbook. The assignment was worth 50 pts. During the class period, they took the Motion Vocabulary Test. They got their Word Search back during class, so they got 2 reviews to help make a great score on the Vocabulary Test. The Motion Chapter Test (100 pts) will be taken tomorrow.
