Students finished taking notes on the metalloids and their uses from the "Elements and Properties" PowerPoint. Then, they were given a poptest (Study Guide) from the Chapter to complete in Class. They were reminded of the Vocabulary Test on the terms from "Elements and their Properties" on tomorrow. The Chapter Test on the "Elements and their Properties" will be on Friday.

We completed the PowerPoint on Nonmetals by finishing the characteristics of Groups 14 - 18. We also described the groups characteristics and discussed uses of the main elements of the groups. Students were reminded of the Chapter Test on Friday and the Voc. Test on Thursday. For homework, they were to finish the 100 pt Ch. Review Guide.

Today, we went over the uses of the elements in Group 1 & 2 from the Periodic Table. We reminded students of the Voc. Test scheduled for Thursday and Chapter Test scheduled for Friday.

We discussed the difference in ions and atoms. Then we explain how we can determine when particles become positively charged and negatively charged.

We began the notes from the PPT on "Elements & their Properties". We reviewed the 3 main types of elements on the Periodic Table, characteristics of Metals and how they are classified.

We began on the "Elements & Properties" Review Questions in class to allow students to get an introduction into the basic objectives of the chapter. Soon after, we began the notes on the "Elements & their Properties" from the PowerPoint. They were given a worksheet to fill out as we went over the notes and use as a study guide for the upcoming Test.

New Semester, New goals. We began w/the vocabulary words in the "Elements and Properties" Chapter. Students were introduced to the goals and objectives to the chapter and completed the "Elements & Properties" Vocabulary in class.

All students got their 1st Semester Exam Review Guides yesterday after their final Chapter Tests. They were allowed to take them home and begin to review for the Semester Exams next week. Today, they got a 1st Semester Exam Crossword Puzzle as their final grade for the 1st Semester to help them review for their Exam. Study and review so you will make a good grade on your Semester Exams!!!

Students took the Atomic Properties and the Periodic Table Vocabulary Test. We went over the Answers to the Voc. Test and Internet Review. Then, we took the Chapter Test on the Atomic Properties & The Periodic Table. They received the 1st Sem. Exam Rev. Guide after the Test.

We concluded the notes on "Atoms and the Periodic Table" by discussing the 3 major types of elements; metals, nonmetals, and metalloids and their characteristics. Then we demonstrated electron dot models and completed a worksheet on "Electron Dot Models". After those assignments, we completed a Crossword Puzzle on the current chapter. If students did not finish the CWP in class, they were to turn them in by the end of 7th pd. They had the "Atoms and the Periodic Table" Chapter Review for homework. The Voc. Test and Chapter Test will be taken tomorrow. The Voc. Test will be an open book test and possibly the Chapter Test also.
