Today was showtime for the work we've done on Work & Machines. We took the Work & Machines Chapter Test. After the test we began the Thermal Energy Voc.

Today, we took the Work & Machines Voc. Test and the Chapter Review from the textbook. Students were told to bring a calculator tomorrow as well as a pencil for the Work & Machines Chapter Test

Today we reviewed the Lecture WS by powerpoint and completed the Work & Machines Crossword Puzzle as well as The Review Exercise 7 WS. The Vocabulary test on Work and Machines will be tomorrow.

Today, we finished the Work Lecture WS. We discussed the types of compound machines, MA, Efficiency, and Levers. The students had a worksheet on Classes of Levers before they left that was due by 8th period.

Today, we took the lecture Worksheet on work and answered all of the problems on the first page as we discussed them. Tomorrow we will finish the discussions on types of levers, inclined planes and pulley's. The Work & Machines Voc. Test is scheduled for Thursday and Chapter Test on Friday.

Yesterday was a work day for the students in Physical Science at MHS. I was absent, but left the Work & Machines Vocabulary, Review Questions and a Lecture Questions WS for them to complete. It allows them to learn the material by going through the important items. Now when I return, they should know much of the material on Work & Machines. Today, however, (Friday), We will take the Work & Machines word problem test on Calculating Work, Power, Mechanical Advantage and Efficiency. The word problems we've worked on since Monday. Students learned about Efficiency, Work OUTput, Work INput and friction in machines today. Then, we learned the relationship between all 3 terms. As well we calculated efficiency on the Efficiency word problem Worksheet. All of the word problem worksheets (work, power ,mechanical advantage, and efficiency) will be combined on tomorrows practice test for the major test on Friday.

Today's notes covered the definition of machines and how they are used. We also looked at the term, "Mechanical Advantage" and how it relates to machines. Then, we calculated Mechanical Advantage, Resistance Force and Effort Force. With the word problem Worksheet due before 8th period. They were informed of the Word Problem Pre-test on Wednesday and the Word Problem Test on Thursday. MUST HAVE CALCULATORS!!!

Today, we reviewed the Energy notes by using the www.gpscience.com website and formulas for Kinetic Energy and Gravitational Potential Energy. Then we took the Chapter Test on Energy.

Today, Physical Science students took the Energy Voc. Test, answered the Energy Chapter Review from the book and completed the Voc and/or Review Questions that they had not completed earlier. They were told to review the 2 sets of formulas for the test on tomorrow. They must have a calculator and pencil for their Energy Chapter Test tomorrow.
