Today, we used the powerpoint on Energy to discuss Energy transformations in mass, the human body and on earth. We will have the Energy Vocabulary Test on Tomorrow as well as a worksheet on Potential & Kinetic Energy and the Chapter Review on Energy. Calculators must be brought to class each day till the end of the year. The Chapter Test on Energy will be on Thursday.

Today, students were taken to the Library Computer Lab. We put each student on a computer, went to www.gpscience.com and went through the chapters on the 3rd Qtr Benchmark Test. They were chapters 19, 20, 21, 2 and 3. Students were shown how to go to the various locations and use the website to study for the Benchmark. They can also access the site from a home computer. They must have a pencil for the 3rd Qtr Benchmark Test on Monday. They were offered a written copy of items to study for the test also.

On yesterday, Wednesday (3-6) Physical Science classes took the Forces Vocabulary Test and worked on the Chapter Review from the textbook. All Grade Sheets for bonus points were taken up. Students were told to bring a pencil for the Chapter Test on Thursday. Today, we took the Forces Chapter Test and had a free write for our Writing of the month.

Today, we determined the formula for weight and described the effects of gravity on weight. We finished the period w/a word problem worksheet where we calculated, weight, acceleration of gravity or mass depending on the unkown concept. We will be needing our calculators all year each day. Our Vocabulary test on this chapter will be on Wednesday with the Chapter Test on Thursday.

On Thursday, we looked at "Newton's Hat Trick", a video using hockey and the New York Rangers to look at Newton's 3 Laws of Motion. After the video, we completed "Newton's 2nd Law of Motion" word problem worksheet. We answered the questions during the video and completed the worksheets.
Today, we copied notes from a powerpoint on Friction and the types as well as gravity and its effects. On Monday, we'll be using the calculators again as we calculate momentum and weight on word problem worksheets. Bring the CALCULATORS!!!

Yesterday, we began and worked on the Forces Vocabulary and Review Questions. Today, we went outside and walked/ran the 10 yd dash, and then walked/ran the 40 yd dash to calculate speed. Then we walked 20 yds and without stopping, ran 20 yd to calculate acceleration. We are working on completing the calculations to show we understand the concepts of speed and acceleration.
