Today, we observed 2 podcasts on Balancing Chemical Equations. Then, we balanced two during the podcasts and began the "Identifying & Balancing Chemical Equations" Worksheet. We'll do more of the same tomorrow.

Monday was a day for introducing the Chemical Reactions and Chemical Equations. We talked about products, reactants, subscripts and coefficients. We ended the day by counting atoms w/and without parenthesis and then determing the number of atoms w/coefficients. The day was finished w/a worksheet on "Counting Atoms". Tuesday, we saw two podcasts on determining the types of Chemical Reactions (5 types). We then took notes and answered a short worksheet to be sure we understood and could identify each of the 5 types.

We were introduced to Chemical Reactions and completed the Chemical Reactions Review Questions in class today. We will begin the notes on Monday. Students were encouraged to bring a calculator to class next week for help if needed.

Today, we had the Chapter Test on Chemical Bonding. Also, those who did not completely finish their writing Essay on the Steps to writing an Ionic Formula were allowed to finish. The next chapter, Chemical Reactions was due before 8th period.

Today, we reviewed the answers on the Chemical Bonding Chapter Review, the Periodic Table Relationships WS and the www.gpscience.com website for the Chemical Bonding Test tomorrow.

Today, the Physical Science students took the Chemical Bonding Voc. Test, completed the Chemical Bonding Chapter Review, had a Element Symbols test and wrote a short Writing Assignment on The process of writing chemical formulas.

Today's events, brought us to the final notes in the Chapter on Chemical Bonding. Students had a worksheet on Chemical Symbols, Element Code and Periodic Table Relationships. All students were notified of the Chemical Bonding Vocabulary Test tomorrow and the chapter test on Chemical Bonding on Wednesday.

Today, we viewed a podcast on Naming and Writing Covalent Compounds. Then after working practice problems together, All students worked on "Naming Covalent Compounds" and "Writing Covalent Compounds" Worksheets.

We got to write Ionic formulas w/polyatomic ions after the Polyatomic Ion Poptest. We also got to complete another worksheet on Naming Ionic Compounds w/Polyatomic Ions to help recognize them. Another Poptest on naming Polyatomic Ions and their charges will pop up tomorrow. STUDY the POLYATOMIC IONS and their charges!!!

Today, we learned how to identify polyatomic ions and how to name ionic formulas w/polyatomic ions.
