We're finishing the Thermal Energy (Heat) chapter and having our Vocabulary Test on Thermal Energy today.  We also get to begin the Chapter Review on Thermal Energy.  Most students will have it for homework so they will study for the Chapter Test on Thermal Energy tomorrow.

Students finished the heat lost/gained word problem and finished the discussions on Thermal Energy.  The Heat Lost/Gained Worksheet was due for homework if not finished in class.  There will be a Thermal Energy Vocabulary Test on Wednesday and chpater Test on Thermal Energy on Thursday of this week.

We spent time calculating heat lost and heat gained in a substance by using the equation Q = mc(delta)t.  Have a good weekend..

We began the notes on Heat (Thermal Energy) and we will continue the discussions and notes on Friday.  Students were informed that they have only 2 weeks left for the grading period and then Benchmark Tests will begin.

Yesterday was a LAB day.  We got to walk/run stairs and determine the work and power used by our bodies in the walking and running.  Also, we got to calculate the work and power we used.  Today, we get to finish up the calculations for lab and finish our Thermal Energy Review Questions.

Those who were on the Shakespeare field trip on Thursday got to take their Work & Machine Test. The others completed their Thermal Energy vocabulary. If they didn't finish, they had it for homework, due tomorrow. We will be having a Power lab tomorrow, so wear Tennis shoes.

On yesterday, we worked on a Work Crossword Puzzle, Word Search, Chapter Review and Compare/Contrast Worksheet. A few periods took their Work Vocabulary Test. Those classes who did not take their Voc. Test yesterday will take the Work Voc. Test today. All classes will take their Work Chapter Test today. Unless, of course, you've gone to Montgomery to see the Shakespeare presentation as some students did. They'll have their Work test on Monday when they return.

We discussed the simple machines, compound machines and went more indepth with the notes on Efficiency, MA and ways to increase Work Output. Students were advised about the Vocabulary Test on Wednesday and Chapter Test on Work & Machines on Thursday. Several mentioned being gone on days in the week and they were advised to make arrangements w/me before they left.

Showtime!!! We got to show off our ability to calculate work, power, mechanical advantage, and efficiency. The wares of our work the last 3 days will be demonstrated when we take our test on Work word problems in class. Good Luck!! You won't need it if you studied..

Today, we combined the word problems for Work, Power, Mechanical Advantage and Efficiency on one Word Problem Worksheet. Students were encouraged to learn the formulas using the "TRIANGLE" method. Also, a poptest was given to prepare them for the Work Word Problem Test tomorrow. They were told that they would not be able to take the test without a calculator. They MUST BRING a calculator to class tomorrow. EASY TEST!!!
