The student’s at Calera Intermediate are teaming up with Operation Gratitude to send sweet reminders of home to soldiers as they serve overseas. Collection boxes will be set up at the school from October 28 to November 8 to gather candy to be sent to the troops. The school also welcomes candy donations from the community to include in the care packages. Operation Gratitude is also looking for the financial contributions to assist with the cost of mailing the care packages overseas. Contact Rich Hernandez for more information at 262-674-7281.
Operation Gratitude annually sends more than 100,000 care packages filled with snacks, entertainment items and personal letters of appreciation addressed to individually named U.S. service members deployed in hostile regions, to their children left behind, and to veterans, first responders, Wounded Warriors and their Care Givers. The organization’s mission is to lift morale, bring a smile to a service member’s face, and express to the Armed Forces the appreciation and support of the American people.
