Congressman Bachus Honors Shelby County Young Artists

Congressman Spencer Bachus and his wife, Linda, issued their annual Holiday Call for Art in September 2013. This art opportunity is for Alabama students with visual impairments who live in or attend school in the Sixth Congressional District. This opportunity highlights the talents of the students and provides artwork for Congressman and Mrs. Bachus’ 2013 Holiday Card.

On Monday December 16th, students from two Oak Mountain Schools were honored at a reception for their participation in Congressman Spencer Bachus’ Annual Holiday Call for Art: Emily Gillum and Rachel Hyche, from Oak Mountain Intermediate School, and Xavier Kurre from Oak Mountain Elementary School. Participating teachers were Jen Palmer and Melanie Fitzmorris from Oak Mountain Elementary and Leigh Walker from Oak Mountain Intermediate. The teachers of students with visual impairments (TVI) were Bobbie Fletcher and Stephanie Hardwick-Goldblatt.
