It’s an exciting time for Oak Mountain Middle School as the school prepares to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Expo Excitement April 11-13. This annual event, which features a variety of carnival rides and games of chance provided by Trinity Entertainment, is fun for all ages and serves as a major fundraiser for the school. In addition to an old-fashioned fair environment, this year’s activities include a giant yard sale sponsored by the Athletic Boosters, an outdoor vendor fair, and entertainment.
Public sessions will be: Friday, April 11 from 5:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m.; Saturday, April 12 from 11:00 a.m. – 10:00 p.m.; and Sunday, April 13 from 12:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.
OMMS students will compete against each other during Friday night’s “Family Feud.” Based on the syndicated television game show, members of the student body answered over 80 questions to create the famous “survey says…” First place team members will share in $200, with the second place team sharing $100. Prize money is being donated by local orthodontist, Dr. Bertha Dieguez.
Saturday’s entertainment line-up features contestants from the 2014 Oak Mountain Idol contest performing at 4:00 p.m. followed by Valid MC ~ Craig Barton, at 5:30 p.m. On Sunday, the Meadowbrook Baptist Youth Praise Band will perform at 1:00 p.m. followed by the OMIS Choir at 3:00 p.m.
Admission is $2 per student and adult and children five and under will be admitted free. Wristbands for unlimited rides can be purchased at the gate. Individual session wristbands for Friday and Saturday are $15; Individual session wristbands for Sunday are $10; and Mega Pass wristbands for all sessions are $30.
