“This was an awesome recognition to our students and our faculty and staff members at Calera High,” said Principal Richard Bishop. “The recognition occurred because of our high percentage of students, 39 percent, who are enrolled in AP classes and the total number of students we teach who are proficient in reading and math. We have 91 percent who are proficient in reading and 93 percent who are proficient in math.”

” Another big factor in the recognition was the consideration that we have a high number of disadvantaged students, 53 percent, and still accomplished great academic success,” Bishop said.  This is really the result of a lot of hard work by our students and staff.  I very proud!”
