The Shelby County Education Support Professionals organization recently awarded their annual scholarships to Amy Andrews, a senior at Calera High School, and John Pate, a senior at Montevallo High School.

Andrews is the daughter of SCESP members Matt and Robin Andrews, who both work at Calera High School.  Andrews is involved in many different activities at her school, including the National Honor Society, Ambassadors, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Spirit Committee, and Varsity Cheerleader. She plans to attend the University of Montevallo, where she will purse a degree in nursing, specializing in pediatric nursing.

Pate is the son of SCESP member Kristen Pate, an instructional aide at Linda Nolen Learning Center.  Throughout his senior year, Pate has served as a Big Brother for Greater Birmingham, mentoring younger studnets.  He also volunteers at the Linda Nolen Learning Center, assisting with their annual prom.   Pate has a strong compassion for children with special needs, which has inspired him to attend the University of Montevallo to earn a degree in Special Education.
