The Shelby School District has announced the income eligibility guidelines for free and reduced lunch-price meals for children served in schools under the Local School Food Authority and the National School Lunch/Breakfast Program. Local school officials have adopted the following household size and income criteria.
Parents whose income falls within the limits outlined in the table shown above may be eligible for free or reduced-price meals. Parents may apply by completing an application form that will be sent home with students. Additional copies are available in your child’s school office or apply online at www.shelbyed.k12.al.us/cnp/meal_benefits.htm. School officials will be verifying the income of some households during the school year. Those selected households will be requested to provide income documentation in order to continue receiving free and reduced-priced meals. Sandy McKim, Shelby County Schools Application Processor, will review the applications and determine eligibility.
The last four digits of the social security number must be provided for the primary wage earner or household member who signs the application. Adults ineligible for social security numbers should indicate their status on the application. Foster children may also be eligible for these benefits. Parents who have foster children living with them should contact their school for more information on how to apply.
