On October 1, student leaders from Montevallo Elementary School, Montevallo Middle School, and Montevallo High School attended a student institute retreat at American Village. The institute, sponsored by the University of Montevallo’s Office of Service Learning and Community Engagement and the David Mathews Center for Civic Life, focused on civic knowledge, team building, promoting healthy living, community resources, asset mapping, and creative thinking. The student leaders had the opportunity to meet with Montevallo Mayor Hollie Cost and other community stakeholders to discuss how to make their community a better place.
