Coupons for Classrooms Campaign Winners Recognized by Shelby County Schools Education Foundation

IMG_2709The Shelby County Schools Education Foundation recently recognized the top-selling students from the 2016 Coupons for Classrooms Campaign.  Landon Starnes, a student at Elvin Hill Elementary School, was awarded the first-place prize for selling 114 books.

IMG_2714Starnes received a bicycle and a $1,000 cash prize from Regions Bank; a $1,000 cash prize from SaveAround – the publisher of the Coupon Books; a Coca-Cola prize pack; and a Kindle Fire.  The second place winner was Chloe Lyles from Calera Elementary, who sold 85 books.  She received $100 from Regions Bank and $500 from SaveAround.  CJ Tolbert from Calera Intermediate was the third place winner for selling 50 books.  He received $100 from Regions Bank and $250 from SaveAround.

The other top selling students were Evan Dunn from Calera Elementary( fourth place); Dawson Miskelly from Wilsonville Elementary (tied fifth place);  Aiden Smith from Montevallo Elementary (tied fifth place);  Cyle Jones from Helena Middle (sixth place); Kamari Washington from Helena Middle (tied seventh place); Ruthie Gibson from Calera Elementary (tied seventh place); Matthew Campbell from Montevallo Elementary (eighth place); Christopher Wiseman from Calera Elementary ninth place); Abigail Price from Forest Oaks Elementary (tied tenth place); Gus Reynolds from Montevallo Elementary (tied tenth place); Jackson Thrower from Calera Elementary (tied tenth place); Ariana Patel from Chelsea Park Elementary (tied tenth place); and John Patrick Snyder from Calera Intermediate (tied tenth place).  Each of these students also won cash prices from Regions Bank and SaveAround in varying amounts depending on where they placed in the top ten.

IMG_2722The top school coordinators were: April Maner from Calera Elementary (first place); Mindy Miller from Oak Mountain Elementary (second place); Julie Brane from Oak Mountain Intermediate (third place); Tracy Whitfield from Mt Laurel (fourth place) and Mark Sanders from Helena Middle (fifth place).

The top teachers were: Misty Rutherford from Elvin Hill Elementary (tied first place); Wendy Avery from Calera Elementary (tied first place); Angie LaCroix from Calera Elementary (second place); Amy Allen from Calera Elementary (third place); April Maner from Calera Elementary (fourth place); and Camden Garner from Calera Elementary (fifth place).

The Education Foundation also honored teachers who were awarded over $39,000 in grant funding thanks to the money raised by the Coupons for Classrooms fundraiser. The teachers who were awarded grants included:
