The Shelby County Board of Education approved several administrative positions during its regularly scheduled board meeting on October 18, including several assistant principals, Coordinator of Instruction, and Supervisor of Accounting and Finance.
Dr. Angela Walker was approved for the position of Coordinator of Instruction. Dr. Walker has 20 years of experience in education and currently serves as the Professional Development Supervisor. Dr. Walker received a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Early Childhood Education, an Education Specialist degree in Educational Administration and a Ph.D. in Early Childhood/Educational Leadership from the University of Alabama at Birmingham.
Mathew Epps will serve as the new twelve-month assistant principal of Oak Mountain High School. Epps has 12 years of experience in education and currently serves as the ten-and-a-half month assistant principal at Oak Mountain High School. He earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood/Elementary Education from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. He also earned a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership and his Educational Specialist degree from the University of Alabama at Birmingham.
Sandra Evers will step into the role of ten-and-a-half month assistant principal of Oak Mountain High School. Evers has 14 years of experience in education and currently serves as the administrative assistant at Oak Mountain High School. She earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Sports Science from the University of Kansas. She also earned a Master’s degree in Physical Education and an Instructional Leadership degree from the University of Montevallo.
Christopher Myles was approved as the new assistant principal for Helena Middle School. Myles has over eight years experience in public education and currently serves as a teacher Thompson High School in the Alabaster City School system. Myles earned a Bachelor’s degree in History from Faulkner University. He also holds a Master’s degree and Educational Specialist degree in Instructional Leadership from the University of Montevallo.
Lacey Brackner will serve as the new Supervisor of Accounting and Finance for the district. Brackner most recently was a staff accountant for Shelby County Schools. Prior to that position, she was a Bookkeeper at Chelsea High Schools. She has a Master’s degree in Business Administration, with a Minor in Pre-Law and a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration in Management from the University of Montevallo.
