Board of Education Approves Two New Assistant Principals

The Shelby County Board of Education approved two new assistant principals for the 2020-2021 school year.

Christopher Self will serve as the assistant principal at Chelsea Middle School, after previously serving at CMS as an administrative assistant. Self has over eight years of experience in public education. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Finance and Economics from the University of Alabama, a master’s degree in Collaborative Education from the University of Alabama at Birmingham, and an Educational Specialist degree from the University of Montevallo. 

Christi Martin will serve as the assistant principal at Helena Middle School. Martin has over seventeen years of experience in public education and currently serves as the assistant principal at Hueytown Middle School.  Martin earned a bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science from Kennesaw State University, a master’s degree in Physical Education from the University of Alabama at Birmingham, and an Instructional Leadership certificate from the University of West Alabama.
