CTEC Students Medal at SkillsUSA Alabama Competition

Students from the Shelby County Career and Technical Educational Center (CTEC) recently medaled in eight various categories at the Alabama SkillsUSA competition, bringing home first-place awards in five out of eight categories.

CTEC Principal Daniel Richards said according to long-time teachers at CTEC, this is a record number of medalists for the state competition from the school. Richard said all first-place finishers have qualified to attend the National Leadership Conference and SkillsUSA Championships on June 20-24 in Atlanta, GA.

CTEC students who medaled at the state competition included:

Automotive Technology

2nd Place Promotional Bulletin Board – Logan Harris, Wes Channell, and Kurt Dy from Helena High School

3rd Place Career Pathway Showcase – Alexander Moody and Nevin Ming from Calera High School and Cole Rigney from Shelby County High School

3rd place State pin design – Benjamin Ulderich from Chelsea High School

3rd place Motorcycle Technology – Trey White from Chelsea High School

Collision Repair

1st Place Collision Repair Technology – Graham Cox from Vincent High School

2nd Place Automotive Refinish Technology – Nic Stanley from Chelsea High School

3rd Place Automotive Refinish Technology – Luis Sanchez from Chelsea High School

Construction Technology

3rd place- Carpentry Competition – Maxwell Huff from Oak Mountain High School

Cosmetology

3rd Place – Cosmetology Contest – Fatima Djalo from Helena High School

Plumbing

1st place – Jaden Bennett from Chelsea High School

2nd place – Clay Green from Chelsea High School

3rd place – Tate Sudsberry from Calera High School
