Montevallo Middle School’s National Junior Honor Society members participated in a Day of Service on January 20 at Camp Fletcher to honor Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Mrs. Tamika Whitt-Wright, NJHS sponsor, contacted the United Way and was partnered with an organization called Hands On Birmingham, whose mission is to connect people with organized and meaningful volunteer opportunities to improve local communities. This year, Hands On Birmingham celebrated their 14th Annual MLK Day of Service. The Montevallo Middle School students and other volunteers spent a couple of hours working on making Camp Fletcher more beautiful by removing garbage around the grounds and performing light landscaping.
