As many of you know our Cheerleaders competed at Nationals Friday. Going into Friday I was just thankful that Chelsea finally had a team that was representing them at NATIONALS. There were a total of 31 teams in our entire Junior High Division that were teams from all over the NATION. We were in Group B that was made up of 15 teams.
During warm up we had a music malfunction & I literally was freaking out inside. The girls performed at 4:41pm & had a great performance. We came in 3rd out of those 15 teams. After performing we had to wait to see if we made it into the Finals. Out of the 31 teams they took the top 16 teams. We moved on to the Finals and competed again at 8:33pm. They announced awards at 10:30pm. We unfortunately had a stunt fall, but even with those deduction points added, we had some other stuff we could have hit harder.
This was a great lesson for these girls to realize that you win as a team and fall short as a team. These girls turned a situation, that in some eye’s would be a negative, into a positive. They loved on one another and tried their best to keep their heads up. They asked if I was going to post that they came in 16th place…..YES of course I’m going to share, because what some may not realize is that even though we got 16th out of 31 teams we are still bringing home a NATIONAL TROPHY. The first cheer squad from Chelsea to do that. There are teams that competed this weekend that are going home without a trophy. Always got to see the positives over the negatives. These girls can’t let anyone take their joy because each and every one of them are winners in my heart. What a wonderful experience this has been for these girls.
