Students learned the 6 base prefixes in SI, the numbers they represent, and their symbols. Then, we drew lines to measure mm, cm, and dm. After comparing the different units and writing equations with the units, we wrote conversion factors comparing the SI units. They were assigned an SI Conversion Factors WS (34 pts) for completion/homework.

Students finished taking notes on the base units of SI, meniscus and density. We learned how to calculate density and began word problems solving density, mass and volume. They will need their calculators again tomorrow to complete the density Word Problem Work Sheet (WPWS) - 27pts

Students worked on conversion factors and how to use them on the "Conantucki Island" WS (21pts). The students were able to write conversion factors to convert between trades of goods on an island. They will have the English Conversions Test (100pts) tomorrow. They were advised to study the conversion equations for the test tomorrow. They were also given work from another textbook, p. 25 and 44-46 to read and take notes on to prepare for SI conversions.

Students watched the final episodes of the movie, "The Day After". They were assigned an essay to see if they got any information on radiation and its effect on life. It was listed as a GOLD grade for the final grade of the year. Students were also given the opportunity to pick up the 3rd Qtr Review guide for their 2nd Semester Exam.
