Students performed 3 practice problems converting in SI. We then completed a worksheet on SI Conversions in class (45 pts). They understand that 6 steps are expected to be shown in the conversions on the WS. We also had a calculator check in class for a bronze grade (10 pts).

SI Prefixes / SI Conversion Factors
Students learned the 6 base prefixes in SI, the numbers they represent, and their symbols. Then, we drew lines to measure mm, cm, and dm. After comparing the different units and writing equations with the units, we wrote conversion factors comparing the SI units. They were assigned an SI Conversion Factors WS (34 pts) for completion/homework.
ACT Aspire
Students took the ACT Aspire Test in class today on the Chromebook laptop computers.
Base Units in SI / Density
Students finished taking notes on the base units of SI, meniscus and density. We learned how to calculate density and began word problems solving density, mass and volume. They will need their calculators again tomorrow to complete the density Word Problem Work Sheet (WPWS) - 27pts
SI
Students took notes from the Powerpoint on SI and its base units. We learned the base units for mass, volume and distance and what they stand for. We will be calculating density tomorrow and learn derived units. They must have a calculator in class tomorrow.
English Conversions Test
Students took the "English Conversions Test" (100 pts) in class today.
English Conversions
Students worked on conversion factors and how to use them on the "Conantucki Island" WS (21pts). The students were able to write conversion factors to convert between trades of goods on an island. They will have the English Conversions Test (100pts) tomorrow. They were advised to study the conversion equations for the test tomorrow. They were also given work from another textbook, p. 25 and 44-46 to read and take notes on to prepare for SI conversions.
The Day After/2nd Sem. Exam Review
Students watched the last 5-10 min. of "the Day After". Then, they were assigned the Day After Review (100 pt) Gold Grade and were given the 4th Qtr Rev. Guide. They were told what items to bring and the day of their exam. Study!!!!
The Day After
Students watched the final episodes of the movie, "The Day After". They were assigned an essay to see if they got any information on radiation and its effect on life. It was listed as a GOLD grade for the final grade of the year. Students were also given the opportunity to pick up the 3rd Qtr Review guide for their 2nd Semester Exam.
“The Day After”
Students were to have turned in the Radiation Voc (34 pts). Then after a brief introduction into Radiation, students began viewing the 1983 film, "The Day After" to learn the effects of radiation on life.
