2nd Pd:
We allowed the students to use their internet on their phones one more day to complete the 3rd Review Guide for Earth's Resources. We will Take the Earth's Resources Test on Tuesday. Pencils are mandatory to enter the room.
5th Pd:
Completed the PowerPoint on Minerals.
We completed the notes from the PowerPoint on the "Classification of Matter" by discussing the 2 major types of changes and the Law of Conservation of Mass. We then, answered a "Classification of Matter" Crossword Puzzle in preparation for the Vocabulary Test on Tomorrow. Students were advised of the Voc. Test tomorrow and the Chapter Test on this chapter on Wednesday. Study, STUDY, STUDY!!!
Today, we continued with the Ch. 26 Review Guide. The emphasis was on allowing them to use the internet to find answer on materials that had not been discussed dealing with Earth's Resources. We will have the Earth's Resources Chapter Test on Monday.
We discussed the types of mixtures w/examples, the specific types of mixtures and the two major types of properties with examples. All notes were from the PowerPoint presentation with discussion.
29 - Students completed the Earth's Resources Chapter Assessment during class. We began with the Earth's Resources Vocabulary Test. They were advised of the Earth's Resources Chapter Test on Friday.
30 - We reviewed the answers to the Earth's Resources Voc. Test. Then we took the Ch. 25 Review Guide. Students were allowed to use the Google from their phones to answer questions from concepts that were not covered in class. Those who finished the Ch. 25 WS got to begin the Ch. 26 WS. The Chapter Test was moved to Monday.
29 - We began the notes from the "Classification of Matter" PowerPoint. We discussed matter and properties. We ended class discussing how elements are classified
30 - We compared elements, compounds and mixtures from the Classification of Matter Notes. We ended class with a worksheet that allowed us to determine if a substance was an element, compound or mixture.
We concluded the PPT notes on Earth's Resources. Then we began and worked on the Chapter Assessment for Earth's Resources. They will have the Vocabulary Test on Earth's Resources tomorrow and the Chapter Test on Wednesday.
We conducted a lab using the "Scientific Method" today. We made a hypothesis on how many water drops a penny would hold and conducted an experiment. After filling in the Data Table, we turned it in and began the Classification of Matter Voc.(38 pts) The Classification of Matter Review Questions were assigned for homework (50 pts)
Today, we went over the answers to the Ch. 1 Rev. from our text. After reviewing the answers orally, we took the Chapter 1 Test. They were advised to dress correctly for the Penny Drop Lab on Tuesday.
Today, we continued w/the Earth's Resources notes. We reviewed the Energy Alternatives Notes. We discussed the atmosphere of Earth, how it's polluted and the results of Air Pollution. Class was ended discussing ways in which we damage our environment.
