We continued talking and taking notes on the alternative forms of energy other than fossil fuels. We discussed nuclear, solar, and wind energy and possible sources and the disadvantages/advantages of each. The PowerPoint mentioned examples of problems w/nuclear and how it operates.
Scientific Method
Today, we reviewed the "Scientific Method in Action" WS that they had for homework. Then we went over the stages of the scientific method in a poptest. We finished class with a worksheet entitled, "The Experimental Method of Research" and Simpsons WS on the Scientific Method. They were reminded of a Scientific Method Quiz on Wednesday/Thursday.
Earth’s Resources
We covered tar shales and oil sands and their characteristics. Then we began to talk about alternative forms of energy other than fossil fuels. We briefly discussed solar energy, its advantages and disadvantages. We will continue to discuss the other alternative forms of energy from the Earth.
Scientific Method
Today, we discussed the Scientific Method and it's 7 steps. We differentiated between the control and experimental group, the quantitative and qualitative data, and the two types of reasoning. Then we got the Applying Scientific Method WS for homework. The Scientific Method Quiz is scheduled for Wednesday.

We quickly reviewed the notes from yesterday and continued the Earth's Resources notes and class discussion.
Scientific Method
Today, we began and completed the Scientific Method Review Questions from the 1st Chapter in our Science Textbook. We turned the RQ in at the end of the period.
Earth’s Resources
Much discussion was used to learn how to look at a phrase such as "Earth's Resources" and learn how to think about what the topics might cover. We went over the base objectives and how they relate to humans, energy, and the earth.
Scientific Method
Today, we defined the terms from the Scientific Method Voc. Students were able to define 14 out of 17 terms using their textbooks. The 3 terms that were not in their textbook required them to use their computer knowledge and browsers to define the scientific terms. They had to learn how to decipher the scientific definitions from all of the other definitions. The Voc. was due today. (38 pts)
Earth’s Resources
Students began and completed the Earth's Resources Review Questions. If they did not finish, they were to be completed for homework.
SI Lab, Length Lab, Scientific Method
Students completed the SI Lab and Length Labs. Then, they began on the Scientific Method Voc.
