We reviewed the answers to the Introduction to Earth Science Chapter Assessment and Vocabulary Test. Then we took the Introduction to Earth Science Chapter Test. Finally, we started the Minerals Chapter Vocabulary.
Scientific Notation Test, Conversion Factors
Students were allowed to look over the Math Review WS from yesterday and check their mistakes. Then, we took the Math Review Test. After, we began the notes on Conversion Factors. We introduced units of measurement for distance, weight, and volume in the English System and began the Conversion Factors WS.
Introduction to Earth Science
We reviewed the Section Assessment questions for the Introduction to Earth Science chapter. Then, students took the Introduction to Earth Science Vocabulary Test. They finished the class with the Introduction to Earth Science Chapter Assessment from the textbook. The Chapter test on Introduction to Earth Science will be tomorrow.
Math Review WS/Conversion Factors
We answer the Math Review WS 2/3 with the calculator. They were informed that they have a Math Review Test Tomorrow. They MUST have a calculator everyday for the rest of the year. We began the Conversion Factor notes at the end of class.
Introduction to Science
We completed the notes on "Introduction to Earth Science" Notes, and assigned the CWP with the chapter. There will be a Introduction to Earth Science Voc. Test on Tomorrow and Chapter Test on Thursday.
Fractions to Decimals/Calculator Use
We learned how to change fractions to decimals. Then we rounded off to two digits to the right of the decimal. We finally reviewed how numbers are to be rounded using a calculator. Class was concluded with a 20pt Math Poptest WS. All students were reminded to bring a calculator to class every day for the rest of the year. Students with no calculator were instructed to complete the problems using the old fashioned way of division.
Earth Science Introduction
We completed notes on Earth as a System and how humans affect the earth. Then we discovered what GPS stands for and how it is used today. There will be a Vocabulary Test on Tuesday from the Introduction to Earth Science terms.
Scientific Notation
Today, we turned regular numbers into scientific notation. We took notes, then worked 5 practice problems. Afterwards, we got the worksheet and completed 25 problems using the same process.
Latitude & Longitude
Students completed the Global Grid worksheet where they found the latitude and longitude of given cities. Then, they found the cities after I gave them the latitude and longitudes. The most important terms were lines of latitude, lines of longitude, equator and prime meridian.
Scientific Notation & Rounding
Today, we completed the notes on Scientific Notation. Afterwards, we practiced writing numbers from regular numbers to scientific notation. We received 50 problems for homework. Then we talked about rounding numbers and did a 30 pt Rounding WS in class.
