We discussed the reason for the worksheet done in class yesterday. Then I brought up certain topics to see what the students learned from the pre-Plate Tectonics WS. We issued another Ch. 17 WS and ended class with the notes from Powerpoint on Plate Tectonics.
Chemical Bonding
Students reviewed the Voc. Test from Chemical Bonding, the Periodic Table Relationships WS and the Review Questions prior to the Chapter Test on Chemical Bonding.
Plate Tectonics
Students began the Mastery Review of the content WS for The Plate Tectonics Chapter in class. Towards the end of class, we began the notes on Plate Tectonics.
Chemical Bonding
Today, students performed the following assignments in class:
1. Element Symbol Test
2. Chemical Bonding Voc. Test
3. Chemical Bonding Ch. Review
They will take the Chemical Bonding Chapter Test on Tomorrow.
Plate Tectonics
Students completed the Plate Tectonics Review Questions in the library today due to a cold classroom.
Chemical Bonding
Today, students completed the Periodic Table Relationships WS and The Element Code WS to review concepts on the Periodic Table and Elements. We spent the day in the library due to a cold room. Chemical Bonds Voc. Test is tomorrow.
Plate Tectonics
Students completed the Plate Tectonics Vocabulary and began the Review Questions from the chapter.
Covalent compounds
We began the period with a poptest on Polyatomic Ions. Then, students watched a YouTube Video on Naming and Writing Covalent compounds. Afterwards, they had a worksheet on Naming Covalent Compounds and one on Writing Covalent Formulas.
Earthquakes/Earth’s Interior
We took the Earthquakes & Earth's interior Voc. Test, went over the answers and then took the Chapter test. Prior to both tests we went over the answers to the Seek-n-find and Chapter Assessment. A lot of work in one day on Friday.
Covalent compounds
Today, we introduced the concept on covalent compounds and covalent bonding. We differentiated between exothermic/endothermic reactions as well polar/nonpolar molecules. Then we introduced the prefixes for covalent compounds and bonding.
