Students drew a picture of the causes and results of a Tsunami. Then, they completed the Earthquakes and Earth's Interior Chapter Review. They will have the Voc. Test and Chapter Test on Tomorrow.
Polyatomic Ions
Students were given a poptest on naming the symbols and charges for polyatomic ions. Then they completed the Naming Chemical Formulas w/Polyatomic Ions WS and the Writing Formulas w/Polyatomic IOns WS
Earthquakes/Earth’s Inner
Students completed Aims 2 & 21 from the Earth Science Workbook. Then they completed the Earthquakes and Earth's Interior SeeknFind and had the Tsunami Drawing from their textbook for homework.
Polyatomic Ions
Students were introduced to polyatomic ions via the Powerpoint. We took notes on polyatomic ions and then complete the "Naming Compounds Containing Polyatomic Ions" WS.
Earth’s Layers
Today we completed the notes on the Earthquakes and Earth's Layers chapter. Then we began the drawing on the Layers of the Earth and descriptions by chemical and physical compositions. They were to be finished for homework.
Polyvalent Elements/Formulas
Today, we viewed a short Youtube Video on naming and writing Ionic Formulas w/Polyvalent (Transition) Elements. Then we began work on 1 worksheet that is on Naming Polyvalent Formulas and another on writing Polyvalent formulas
Tsunamis, Earthquake Dangers
Today, we took notes from the powerpoint on Tsunamis, their causes and dangers. Then we looked at dangers that are created in a community by earthquakes. Colored pencils will be needed tomorrow.
Writing Chemical Formulas w/Ionic Compounds
We reviewed oxidation numbers/ion charge/valence electrons and began to write Ionic formulas for Main Group Elements. We then viewed a YouTube video on writing Polyvalent formulas. Then we completed the worksheet on Naming Ionic Compounds w/Polyvalent Atoms (Transition Elements).
Circle of Fire
Today, we reviewed the notes from the earthquakes, causes and types of waves. Then we went over notes on the Circle of Fire and the results of earthquakes on buildings and residents. The Richter scale and moment magnitude scale were discussed and studied.
Binary Ionic Compounds
Today we looked at a Youtube video on naming Ionic compounds and how they are related to oxidation numbers. We then completed a worksheet on naming 25 ionic compounds. Then we viewed another Youtube video on writing Ionic formulas.
