Today, we covered the parts of the atom, their charges, and locations. We also began a worksheet on the symbols for the elements and deteriming the number of protons, neutrons and electrons in an atom. We distinguished between atomic number, mass number and atomic mass. They were to have both worksheets finished before 8th period began.

Yesterday, Thursday, we took the Solids, Liquids, and Gases Test after reviewing the Vocabulary test and looking at the website for the text, www.gpscience.com. All students were urged to use the website as a study tool along with their notes. We went through the website and reviewed the answers to the Seek-n-Find, then took the test. Today, we are beginning the notes on "Atoms and the Periodic Table". The start of the Chemistry section of Physical Science is today. We will cover the chapter in 4 days so that we can begin to review for the 1st Semester Exam which will be the last week of the 1st Semester. Tune in and Study.

The BullPUPS fought valiantly vs Calera as we "christened" the new Palace. It was a super game in a beautiful edifice. We came up short in the end, but we continue to improve as a team defensively and offensively.

Against Columbiana, we played a different team w/a different style, but continued to improve despite the loss.

Yesterday, all students were introduced to Charles Law. We also wrote the formula and equations for Charles Law after discussion the parts. Then we had a Word Problem WS dealing with volumes and temperatures in Charles Law. Today, we did a Seek-n-Find in preparation for the Vocabulary Test we had in the middle of Class. They were to complete the Seek-n-Find in class then pick up the Chapter Review for Solids, Liquids, and Gases and complete it for homework. They will have a Chapter Test on Solids, Liquids, and Gases on Thursday. They must bring a pencil as they were told today. Objectives were reviewed for the test. Study, Study, Study and remember the formulas for Charles Law, Boyles Law and Pressure.

Today, we discussed the relationship between the volume of a gas and pressure as long as the temperature remains constant. This was called Boyles Law. Then we worked 2 practice problems on the board before we got a worksheet for a grade. Most students had it for homework. You still need the calculator for tomorrows Charles' Law word problems. Vocabulary Test on Wednesday and a chapter test on Thursday.

Today, we discussed, Pressure in Fluids, Archimedes' Principle and Pascal's Principle. Then we had a word problem worksheet using Pascal's Principle where we calculated, Pressure, Force and area. The worksheet was due before the end of 7th period (Study Hall). Have a good weekend.
