We defined the key terms from the chapter on Radioactivity. Soon after, we began viewing the movie, The Day After. It is a movie that gives the students an idea about the effects of radioactivity and it is apart of our lives today. Questions will follow. All students were advised to pick up the 2nd Semester Review for their test on Thursday and next week.
Geologic Time
Students took the Geologic Time Vocabulary Test and Chapter Test w/an open notes test. Students were encouraged to pick up the 2nd Sem. Exam Review Guide.
Work & Machines
Students took the notes that we took in class and used them to answer the Work & Machines Vocabulary Test (44 pts) and the Work & Machines Chapter Test (100 pts). Then, we used the spare time to complete the Review Questions and Crossword Puzzles that they had not finished. Students were encouraged to pick up the 2nd Sem. Exam Review Guide.
Geologic Time
Students completed the Geologic Time Wordsearch and will have the Vocabulary Test on Tomorrow. Seniors turned in their textbooks.
Machines
Students completed a "Types of Levers" WS, Word Search, and MA Word Problem WS in class. We completed the Work & Machines Lecture WS.
Geologic Time
We continued talking about the types of unconformities, fossils and ways to form fossils. Students then began to draw, color and label the Geologic Time scale table from their book using colored pencils and markers.
Machines
We continued to work on the "Work & Machines" Lecture Worksheet and answering the questions. We discussed the classes of levers, types of simple machines and how they are all classified. Tomorrow we will handle worksheets w/the types of levers and calculate mechanical advantage (MA)
Geologic Time
We reviewed the PowerPoint on Geologic Time. In the powerpoint we reviewed how to read the Geologic Time Scale, the recent earthquake in Nepal, avalanche at Mt. Everest and notes from the current chapter.
Work & Power
Students were given a Guided Reading Worksheet for Work & Machines. Then, we went over the definition and formula for calculating Work. Afterwards, students worked 3 practice problems w/work, force, and distance and received a Work Word Problem WS (20 pts). Following 15 minutes of work time, students then went back to the Lecture Worksheet and were given the information and discussion on Power and it's calculations. Class was concluded with a Word Problem Worksheet on Power (20 pts). Both worksheets are due 7th period.
Geologic Time
Students completed the Geologic Time Review Questions and began taking notes on the information in the chapter.
