We had a quick review by pop test on The Valences of Elements by worksheet (40 pts). Then, we looked at a quick Podcast from Papa podcasts on "Writing Formulas for Binary Ionic Compounds". Finally we finished w/a few practice problems on the board and the "Chemical Bonding and Formulas" (100 pts)Worksheet.

Today, we learned how to determine ionic bonds from looking at the Periodic Table. We also learned the characteristics of ionic bonds. At the end of class, we went over the rules for naming Ionic Compounds. All except 1st and 6th period got to do the "Naming Ionic Compounds" WS for homework. 1st/6th period will finish those notes and do that worksheet in class tomorrow.

We completed the drawings of Moving Glaciers, Landforms Created by Glaciers, and the parts of a Receding Glacier. We also completed the Seek-n-Find from the same chapter in preparation for the Vocabulary Test on Wednesday.

We completed the "Glaciers, Deserts, and Wind" Chapter Assessment from their Book and took the Vocabulary Test from the same Chapter. Students must bring a pencil to take the Chapter Test on Thursday.

Students continued the Drawings from the Glaciers and Sand Dunes in an attempt to learn the parts of a glacier and the types of Sand Dunes. They will have their "Glaciers, Deserts, and Wind" Vocabulary Test on Tuesday, and the Chapter Test on Wednesday. Enjoy your Martin Luther King Jr Celebration on Monday. See you on Tuesday.

We began the drawings (4 total, 100 pts total, 25pts/drawing) that depicted the parts of a moving glacier, the landscapes left from a receding glacier, the 6 types of sand dunes, and the erosional landscapes of a glacier from their text. The idea is to learn the parts from the concepts we have studied. We will finish the drawings on Friday which means the Vocabulary test will be moved to the Tuesday when we get back. Also, the "Glaciers, Deserts, and Wind" Chapter Test will be on Wednesday.

We finished the notes from the PowerPoint on "Glaciers, Deserts and Wind". Then we began the drawings (4 total, 100 pts total, 25pts/drawing) that depicted the parts of a moving glacier, the landscapes left from a receding glacier, the 6 types of sand dunes, and the erosional landscapes of a glacier from their text. Also, the "Glaciers, Deserts, and Wind" Chapter Test will be on Wednesday.

Students worked on the "Elements & Properties" Seek-n-Find (40 pts) at the beginning of class. After finishing the Seek-n-Find, they took the "Elements & Properties" Vocabulary Test (36 pts) If they finished the SNF early they began the Chapter Review (76 pts) in preparation for the Chapter Test on Tomorrow. Regardless, most students had the Chapter Review for homework.

We completed the notes on Deserts and Wind today. Students learned how sand dunes are formed and their six characteristic shapes. We also reviewed and compared various landforms created by glaciers with those in deserts. Class was concluded early so the drawings that were to be done in class will be done tomorrow. Homework was to draw, color, and label the six shapes of dunes on a sheet of paper. They were also to have the descriptions of the dunes. Various colors were given to be used in drawing the different dunes. The dune drawings are due tomorrow. They will have a Vocabulary Test on "Glaciers, Deserts, and Wind" on Thursday and the Chapter Test on Friday.
