Students finished taking notes on the metalloids and their uses from the "Elements and Properties" PowerPoint. Then, they were given a poptest (Study Guide) from the Chapter to complete in Class. They were reminded of the Vocabulary Test on the terms from "Elements and their Properties" on tomorrow. The Chapter Test on the "Elements and their Properties" will be on Friday.
Deserts
Many notes on deserts were compared to Glaciers. We almost completed the notes on Glaciers, Deserts and Wind on today. We have to discuss and take notes on the shapes of dunes and their characteristics tomorrow. We will also complete the Glaciers, Deserts, and Wind Seek-n-Find tomorrow and have the Vocabulary Test on Thursday. The Chapter Test will be on Friday. They were reminded to be sure and bring their colored pencils/markers/crayons tomorrow for the Drawings (3rd day)
Nonmetal Characteristics and Groups
We completed the PowerPoint on Nonmetals by finishing the characteristics of Groups 14 - 18. We also described the groups characteristics and discussed uses of the main elements of the groups. Students were reminded of the Chapter Test on Friday and the Voc. Test on Thursday. For homework, they were to finish the 100 pt Ch. Review Guide.
Glaciers
We continued the PowerPoint from the lessons on Glaciers and Deserts. We reviewed information on moraines and the ways to measure Glacial movement. Students were reminded to have crayons, colored pencils, or markers for tomorrows class.
Elements & their Uses
Today, we went over the uses of the elements in Group 1 & 2 from the Periodic Table. We reminded students of the Voc. Test scheduled for Thursday and Chapter Test scheduled for Friday.
Glaciers
We discussed the "Ice Age" and types of glaciers as well as where and how glaciers originate.
Ion & Atom
We discussed the difference in ions and atoms. Then we explain how we can determine when particles become positively charged and negatively charged.
Glaciers, Deserts and Wind
Today, we began and worked on the Review Questions from the "Glaciers, Deserts, and Wind" Chapter. Students were expected to read, summarize and complete the Review Questions Worksheet (60 pts) for homework. After completing the work, they should be prepared for discussing the chapter on Glaciers, Deserts, and Wind.
Elements & Properties
We began the notes from the PPT on "Elements & their Properties". We reviewed the 3 main types of elements on the Periodic Table, characteristics of Metals and how they are classified.
Glaciers, Deserts and Wind
We completed the vocabulary from the Glaciers, Desert and Wind vocabulary Worksheet. Immediately following they began the Review Questions from the same chapter.
