December 12 Announcements

  1. Academics First – there is no after school tutoring today.

 

  1. FBLA members – please plan to meet tomorrow morning, 7:30 a.m. in C-5 for sweatpant assistance.

 

  1. Sweatpants – will be delivered tomorrow during 7th period.

 

  1. Recipe for Success Cooking Club – will have an opening second semester. If interested, please see

Mrs. Bishop, C9, ASAP!

 

  1. Recognition notices – please submit your white copy by 3 p.m. on Thursday to be entered into the prize drawing at Friday’s holiday assembly…you must be present to win!

 

  1. Santa Grams – today is the last day to purchase and send your holiday greetings of good cheer to a friend, sibling, teacher, or coach.

 

  1. Thermal Thursday – in keeping with our holiday spirit, tomorrow’s attire is winter PJ’s, onesies, etc. within dress code! Remember, no leggings!

 

  1. Lost Items – in the front office will be donated after school on Friday. Act responsibly and come look for your clothing, hat from the 20’s day, and lunchboxes!

 

December 10 Announcements

  1. Santa Grams – go on sale today through Wednesday at lunch $1 – just 100 pennies to send priceless words of holiday cheer!

Grams and treat will be delivered at 7th period – it’s helpful to know the 7th period of the individual to whom you will send.

 

  1. JUNA – meets today, 3-4:30 p.m.

 

  1. Phase I – meet in Mrs. Nobles’ room after school to prepare for your departure to Danbury. Parents are to pick up at 5:30 in front of the school.
    1. SGA – sends thanks to all who dressed up today to celebrate Monday Movie Madness!  The holiday spirit attire continues tomorrow with “A trip to the North Pole.”  Please dress accordingly:  8th – Santas, 7th – Reindeer, and 6th – Elves

     

    1. Recognition Notices – be sure to turn in the white copy only to the front office in advance of our holiday assembly drawing for prizes this Friday! You must be present to win.

     

    1. Sixth grade choral students – are reminded to report directly to the choir room for 7th period today.

    *  Congratulations to our victorious wrestling team for winning the Mustang JV Duels!

     

    *  Track & Field try-outs will be in late January.  Interested 7/8th graders may sign up with

    Ms. Salmon (D-4) or Mr. Hackbarth (B-19).  You must have a current physical on file to participate!

     

    *  6/7th graders interested in dance team try-outs should see Mrs. Howton in the media center.  Information packets available in early January.

     

December 7 Announcements

  1. SGA – thanks everyone for their support! The lead-out of members/escorts begins at 8 p.m. tonight and parents are welcome to attend for photo opps!  At the completion of the lead-out, SGA will crown a Winter King & Queen and Princesses!

 

  1. Gala update – be sure to dress appropriately for tonight’s holiday event! Dressy Sunday or dressy holiday attire or “wacky tacky” Christmas with nice jeans/pants.  Fun tickets, $1 each, will be needed for these activities/food products:

Sleigh photos – 5 tickets         sELFie Station – 1 ticket          Cake Walk – 1 ticket per walk

Chick-fil-a nuggets – 3                       Pizza – 2 tickets                       Krispy Kremes – 2 tickets

Gourmet Hot Chocolate – 2 tickets Concession stand items – 1 – 3 tickets for candy and soft drinks

  1. Destination Imagination – today is the deadline for creative and analytical problem solvers to sign-up for this fun team at D-6.

 

  1. Merry Movie Monday – SGA reminds you to celebrate our seasonal spirit week by dressing as your favorite Christmas movie character (suitable for schoolJ)

 

December 6 Announcements

  1. You’re Invited! Our bands cordially invite you to their annual Holiday Concert tonight in the OMMS Gymnasium.  6:30pm – Beginner Band, 7:15pm – Concert/Symphonic Band, and 7:45pm – Advanced Band.

 

  1. Math Teams – Sixth, Seventh, & Algebra I teams will practice tomorrow morning, 7:10 a.m. in the classroom of their respective sponsor.

 

  1. 8th grade Scholars Bowl – practices today with Mr. Walker until 4:30 p.m.

 

  1. Dance Team – interested in being an Eaglette? If so, look forward to information packets being available on January 3.  In the meantime, visit the Dance Team website, https://sites.google.com/shelbyed.org/omms-eaglettes/home or see Mrs. Howton in the media center.

 

  1. Sixth graders – please remember to dress appropriately for “Twenties Day” tomorrow!

 

  1. Holiday Happenings from SGA! Santa Grams go on sale for $1 during lunch on Monday.  Spread the sweetness of the season with a Christmas message of good cheer!  It will be helpful to know the 7th period teacher of your recipient.

“Holiday Haute Couture”  – let your holiday happiness be seen by dressing up!  The fun begins Monday, 12/10 with “Merry Movie Monday.”  Dress as your favorite holiday movie character!

 

  1. Lead-out practice today – for SGA members and escorts. Please remember you must report for 7th period attendance before going to the gym.

 

  1. Sock Tree – hang your “stockings with care” on the FCCLA Christmas tree in the cafeteria. New socks for men and women served by Be a Blessing Birmingham will be appreciated.

 

  1. Christmas Gala – tickets go on sale today at lunch – $7 admission and $1 per fun ticket. Fun tickets can also be purchased tomorrow evening during the event.

 

  1. Debate Team – practices today, 3-4 p.m. Parents will pick up at door #4 on the west side.

  1. North Shelby Library – 3D Print Workshop tomorrow, 6 p.m. Create your own 3-d object! Register at www.northshelbylibrary.org

 

  1. Gala – admission tickets as well as the “fun” tickets for specialty foods, and more will be on sale at lunch tomorrow. Advance admission is $7; $8 at the door.  Fun tickets are $1 each for these items:

Sleigh photos – 5 tickets for each person desiring an individual photo

Chick-fil-a – 3 tickets

Pizza or Cheesy Bread – 2 tickets

*  Congratulations to our wrestling team for its 66-18 win over Berry, 54-33 win over Bragg, and 64-24 win over Homewood. The team is now 12-2 on the season. Coach McGaughy would like to thank all the students who came to the match to support the wrestlers with the awesome signs!

December 4 Announcements

  1. Scholars Bowl teams – 8th grade will practice this Thursday, 3-4:30 p.m., with Mr. Walker.

7th grade team will not practice this week or next.

 

  1. First Priority – will meet tomorrow 7:20 a.m. in the choral room. All students are welcome!  Dr. Luellen is the guest speaker.

 

  1. SGA – members and escorts should plan to practice Thursday during advisory. Report for 7th period attendance before going to the gym.

 

  1. Santa Grams! Spread some holiday cheer for just $1!  SGA will sell Santa Grams next Monday – Wednesday during lunch.   Sweet treats and your holiday happy message will be delivered during 7th period.

 

  1. Toys for Tots – afternoon activity schedule tomorrow as we await the “landing of the Marines” to pick up over $23,000 worth of toys, books, games, dolls, etc. to share with children in need at this festive assembly…all thanks to YOU!

 

  1. Book Olympiad – meets today in C-4, 3-4 p.m. Parents should pick up at door #4 along the bus canopy.

 

  1. Destination Imagination – creative, analytical or imaginative minds needed! Sign up at D-6 by Friday!

*  Congratulations to our 8th grade girls’ and 7th grade boys’ basketball teams who won over Bumpus!

 

*  Good luck to our wrestlers today as they head to the mats to compete against Berry, Bragg & Homewood.  Bring a sign for a wrestler or the team and you’ll receive free admission!  The meet begins at 5:30 p.m.

 

*  Baseball players are reminded of work-outs today, 3-4:15 p.m.

 

Gala tickets on sale Thursday/Friday – $7 at lunch.  Dressy attire or your wacky-tacky holiday clothes.  Fun tickets – $1 each – Santa Sleigh, specialty foods, concessions, sELFie’s and cake walk!

 

Booster Breakfast with Santa – 7:30-11 a.m. Saturday, 12/8 – $5 per person or $20 per family for Waffle House breakfast.  Photos with Santa – $5 each!

 

Spirit Week Holiday Attire – Dress up according to these Christmas season themes:

Monday – 12/10 – Merry Movie Monday – dress like a holiday movie character

Tuesday – 12/11 – Trip to North Pole – 8th – Santa’s, 7th – Reindeer, and 6th – Elves

Wednesday – 12/12 – Winter Wonderland Wednesday – wear all white, snowflakes, etc.

Thursday – 12/13 – Thermal Thursday – school appropriate PJ’s onesies, winter clothing

Friday – 12/14 – Festive Friday – adorn yourself with your best “tacky!”  Christmas stuff!
