OMMS Bus Information

Dear Parents/Guardians,

In previous years, parents would complete a yellow card with their student’s information if the student would be riding a bus anytime during the school year. At this time, the yellow cards will now be handled electronically.   We need to have an accurate count of the students that will be riding the buses.  If your child may ride a bus at anytime during this year, please complete this link:     https://forms.gle/AJvCePeafVRGQ4BF9

Completing this form does not require your child to ride the bus, but in the case that he/she does, we will have the information documented.

If you are unsure of what bus your child will ride, please click here: https://www.shelbyed.k12.al.us/transportation/schoolbusstops.htm#oakmtn

Thank you!

OMMS Preordered School Supply Pickup Information

OMMS preordered school supplies will be distributed for all grades via an outdoor pickup on the following dates (please note that sixth graders are encouraged to pick up their bags at the sixth grade orientation on August 4th):

Monday, August 3          1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m.

Wednesday, August 5    1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m.

The outdoor pickup will be on the side of Oak Mountain Middle School.  Please park in the parking lot between OMES and OMMS.  Please wear a mask and proceed to your designated pickup table area:

6th grade – outside Gym Doors (Door 7)

7th grade – outside C Hall (Door 4)

8th grade – outside B Hall (Door 3)

There will be a table for each grade in the designated area where we will verify that your child’s name is on the list, we will notate who picked up the bag, and then we will give you a bag.  If you have students in multiple grades, you will need to stop at the table for each grade.

PLEASE NOTE THAT WE DO NOT HAVE EXTRA BAGS – so if you did not preorder a bag, you do not need to come to the pickup.

SIXTH GRADE ONLY – in addition to the times above, sixth graders who are attending the sixth grade orientation on Tuesday, August 4th can pick up their supply bags as they exit the building.  They are encouraged to pick up their bags at this time to cut down on the congestion during the other two pickup times.  For sixth graders with siblings in seventh or eighth who also purchased the school supply bags, the sixth grader can pickup for their siblings as well so that you don’t have to come on multiple days.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED – If you are available to help during one of the pickups, we would love your help.  Please use the signup genius to let us know – thanks!!!!

6th Grade Orientation Information

Parents and Students:

Welcome to OMMS! In years past, we have been able to bring upcoming 6th graders and a parent into the school for 6th Grade Orientation. This year, we will still have an orientation, but it will be different and take less time. Since parents will be waiting in the car, we will not keep your child longer than 30 minutes.  We will allow the students to enter the building in small groups on August 4th. The groups will be assigned by your child’s last name as seen in the chart below. Please remember that students must wear a face mask/covering when they enter the building. In addition, we will practice social distancing.

Students will enter through the main office entrance and will exit the school by the gym entrance. Parents should drop students off in the car rider line, and then park in the parking lot between OMES and OMMS. When students leave the building, they will be allowed to pick up their previously ordered school supplies.

We know that some parents have made the decision to keep their child at home at least for the first 9 weeks.

Even if you have made this decision, we still invite your child to come to school at this designated time in case the decision is made for your child to return to the school building during the school year.

Sincerely,

OMMS Administration and 6th Grade Teachers
