“kings of the road” new book about road running in the 1970s – i ran saturday in tuscaloosa and felt nothing like the main characters because i was way, way back in the pack – great book that wove the story of three US runners in the 1970s – and how they helped create the running boom that exists even today – great stories as well of how a strong work ethic can overcome quite a bit in the sport of running – and the amateur ties the book addresses are things that college football is currently having to figure out (see johnny football)
“the ghost runner” by bill jones – British runner commits one “crime” as an amateur in the 1950s and spend the rest of his life paying for it – amazing story of a guy that often ran without a number – without the proper okay – again, issues with amateur running are things that college football is currently trying to figure out (how much money can you make off someone before you owe it to them to share) – so i enjoyed the book
“steve scott: the miler” – so a triffecta of running books this week – strange how that works sometimes – i’m balancing with a baseball book this week:) anyway, scott was a talented miler in the early ’80s-’90s – good description of that time period – that culture – scott’s story of how running affected his marriage was revealing – and brave of him to include
hope we all celebrated seuss day yesterday in proper fashion – as i mentioned at the top, i was on the road running – with sister – nearly froze:)

So when they get to camp half-blood they fall into the water and mermaid creature things help them out. People dry them off with special hair dryer things and Piper thinks that they must do this a lot because they are so good at it. They each go on tour of camp and they learn that there are many cabins and that once you are claimed you go to that cabin.

So Leo finds out that his cabin is cursed and they made a magic dragon machine thing. The dragon always attacks stuff and sets fires everywhere so the cabin wants to desroy it. leo said that they should try to fix it instead of destroying it and they said they couldnt because it would burn them to death. leo said that what if burns didnt hurt them and they replied that you had to have a special power to do that and u r dangerous if u have it.

ive just started to read it but it is a really good book from what ive read. its about a little girl named emily whos dad died in the war and her mother is dying. emily has to take care of her mother and isnt going to school bc she doesnt have a choice. her mother was a slave and a seamstress. emilys friends brother was 20 years old and emily has loved him evere since shes known him. his name is johnny and thinks of emily as his little sister. he knows what she does for her mom, taking care of her, and goes by her house before he leaves again for the war.

so yeah, i has started reading the first book of the second series in Warriors, Warriors; The New Prophecy: Midnight.
now it’s from a different cat’s perspective instead of Firestar’s. it is at Brambleclaw’s perspective. and, it’s almost like there’s been a time lapse since the epic battle between BloodClan and LionClan. Firestar finally decided to have a kit with his mate, Sandstorm. They named her Squirrelkit, which has already become an apprentice, so she is Squirrelpaw. and, all the kits and apprentices in the last book are now warriors. one of them, Fernpaw, has become a queen, Ferncloud, and had a liter of kits with her mate, Dustpelt.

Brisingr is like a vast landscape of literature, and you have to read 500 pages for something to happen. Anyway, since I’m here, I will talk about what I’ve read, however it won’t be interesting because it’s the same thing over and over. Clanmeets, clan meets, and more clan meets. Mr. Mayfield would get this because he’s read it before.
Anyway, in another CLANMEET, one of the candidates mentions what happened during the face off of Eragon and the hooded dwarves. However, he didn’t know it was them, because he only said a large majority of the city heard commotion down deeper into the mountain.
Orik volunteered to give the full story, but I felt he was going to twist it into hurting one of the candidates chances of becoming King or Queen, because it’s politics.
I didn’t read what happened because I’m a bit pressed for time.

Yesterday we had the band banquet so I RUSHED home and hopped in the shower and then I had to make myself look presentable enough to go out in public.
I had to put on a dress and all that fancy stuff.
We got awards and things like that for being in the marching band. I got the award for “Most Outstanding 8th Grader”
I was so excited that people liked me enough to actually vote on me for that because I know that some people find me to be a pain in the butt.
Then this afternoon we had MPA. Stands for (Music Performance Assessment)
Yeah.. We didn’t do too great.. But that is okay because we tried our hardest. We got 2’s which means that we didn’t completely stink but we always get 1’s sooooo… It’s not that great for us.
ANYWAYS
I am still reading The Raven Boys.
Blue has started to date this guy named Adam who is friends with Gansey who is supposed to be the guy that she falls in love with.
So it’s like a love triange except that Blue can’t even stand Gansey so she doesn’t know how she is supposed to end up with him.
She also knows that because her family is fortune tellers she will end up killing Gansey if she kisses.
She doesn’t want to kill him but that’s what happens when fortune tellers kiss their true love.
Hahahaha they don’t life THEY DIE.
Adam, Gansey, Blue, and Declan are going off in a helicopter ride to try to find the Ley Line.
When they find the Ley Line they realize that time either slows down or speeds up. Because as they walked down the line the seasons changed from Summer to Winter in less than two minutes.
They also discovered that the trees will speak to them in Latin because that’s not weird…

Monday- I am still reading Witch and Wizard: The Fire. Whit has gone up to the shadowland to find his parents. He had a dream where they were by a river and they had something that he needed to tell him. It was hard to get to the shadowland because most of the portals have closed and the ones that were still open were in the heart of the New Order. Whit got some advice from an old Resistance fighter and friend on a portal that was still open. It was in an area where the New Order experiments on kids so it was heavily guarded. He managed to get past the guards and wolves into the area. Whisty is going to get a job as a youth troop so that she can get closer to The One who is The One. First she got caught by a youth troop with a Resistance traitor and her frienemy. When she got to a leader high up in he ranks, she manipulated his mind to get a job.

Finished book six the vampire prince.Darren has failed the trials and was suppose to be sentenced to death,but he ran away.his friends helped him escape while they were escaping one of his friends were helping the enemy and killed the other friend .he jumped down to hall of final voyage.before he jumped the traitor came and tried to help him up. What’s up guys, I will be going to listen to the author speak at the Shelby County Arts Council for some extra credit. I have been doing a lot of extra stuff lately, especially with Prize Books, because I’ve already read like six books. I’ve read about disgusting bugs, the history of dirt bikes, and the Alabama Crimson Tide! Sorry to you all Auburn fans that blog, but I won’t delve into you guys’ horrible season.
Also, let me say Yay!, because something finally happened in Brisingr. Even though it was during one of those horrible clan meets, Orik successfully told the story and got the responsible clan for the attempt of assassinating Eragon banned from the race of the dwarves. At first the dwarves were going to arrest him, but then when the leader said that if they did anything to them, the clan was going to attack, so they would do nothing, and that’s exactly what they did. Nothing. Except banish the clan of course.
I don’t think the members of that clan that mean Eragon no harm will be too happy with their leader, and I also think he won’t be the leader of that clan for long.
Is there anything else? Oh yeah! Eragon has to summon Saphira because in three days (in the story) the ceremony of the new King or Queen will be held. Right now Orik has a slight lead because of the way he handled the situation in banishing the clan that tried to kill Eragon. Orik told Eragon that they need to get as much votes as they can while they still have the support if they want to win.
I think that covers it. If time permits I will blog about the lecture, but I might not get to because of other matters to tend to.

Søøøø I am not happy and not all mopee and I feel like pretty unicorns. Haha. So I am reading the same book I have been reading and I am extremly mad at myself for not finishing it. Darren has now met dragons and almost got killed but he has finally gotten past them and is now perfectly fine except for one thing. Spits turns on him and he is trying to kill him so darren can be eaten and now the book is all messed up because everyone wants to eat the other one. (I think the author went crazy) so this is were I am in the book and I want all of y’all to know that y’all are all quotes.
I’m reading Catching Fire, by Suzzane Collins. im to the part where it is the third Quarter Quell where there will be something different about the hunger games. President snows pulls out the slip of paper and says that there will be a boy and girl victor from every district go into the hunger games. That means that Katniss will definitely go into the arena and Peeta will definitely go even if haymitch is called he will volunteer. Sure enough that is what happens. Peeta and Katniss start training as the careers would do. They do hardcore training every day and run. They train visciously as they are consumed with the little chance of them being able to win the games. Peeta is just basically trying to prepare Katniss because he wants her to win if he doesnt.
Ok so today in class we are making picture books, we absolutely have to be prepared for mr bakers class. I was told we do this kind of stuff ALL the time in his class!! It was a good thing we did too because Lauren and Erin and Kane and Albert! didn’t even know how to make one 😮
Anyway I spelled witch wrong(wich) so I haven’t even started mine yet, witch means we have to work on it tomorrow-and sadly we won’t have enough time to take the quiz. Oh no!!!
I personally don’t like adison couch’s book. He drew me so fat I look like a hippo, witch by the way was intentional!
Anyway, I finished beuatiful creatures by the way, it was amazing!! I really hope I can go see it soon.
And not only has beuatiful creatures become a movie so has my other book I’m almost through reading. The host by Stephanie Meyers is about an alien race who takes over earth and lives inside the humans bodies by erasing their memory and minds. There are few human survivors who have gone into hiding. When Melanie journies to find a lost cousin she is caught. Instead of having a regular host Wanderer is put in a resistant host. When Melanie fights from within Wanderer has feelings forced upon her and Melanie gives her hints of directions to a supposed hideout Melanie’s crazy uncle had given her. When they go in search they are unexpectedly captured by humans where she must either escape or become one of them.
I will have read both these books by the end of these 2 weeks, that will have been over 1,000 pages!! Man I need to get a life.:)
Oh my gosh I’m so weird. This morning I woke up and jumped out of bed so afraid that I was gonna miss the bus because I thought I was waking up late and that my alarm hadn’t gone off. This has happened to me twice now and I check the time on my phone to see exactly HOW late I am and it’s 12:00 in the morning! HAHAHA
