Students completed the "Atomic Structure" PowerPoint Notes by covering nuclear reactions and the three major types of radioactive particles.  They received a "Nuclear Reaction" WS (50 pt) to complete for homework as well as the Atomic Structure Word Search (42 pt).  They will have the Atomic Structure Voc Test tomorrow and Chapter Test on Friday

Students took the "Classification of Matter" Chapter Review (76 pts) in class and turned in at the end of the period.  They also completed the "Classification of Matter" Vocabulary Test (34 pt) at the conclusion of the period.  They will have the "Classification of Matter" Chapter Test on tomorrow.

Key concepts covered today on the PowerPoint include isotopes, atomic number, mass number, atomic mass, nuclear reactions, and nuclear radiation.  They received the following item for homework; "Isotopes" WS (50 pt).  They will have the Atomic Structure Vocabulary Test on Thursday and Chapter Test on Friday.

Students continued taking notes on "Atomic Structure" from the PowerPoint.  We went over today's model of the atom, contributions of James Chadwick and how the mass of atoms varies. We compared atomic number and mass number, groups and periods.  We also mentioned how to read each square on the Periodic Table.  Students got a "Determining Parts of an Atom" WS (45 pt). Students were made aware of the Vocabulary Test on Thursday and Chapter Test on Wednesday.

Students continued the notes from the PowerPoint on the "Classification of Matter".  We learned the two types of properties and how they differ from each other. The two types of changes and the Law of Conservation of Matter was discussed.  Students will take the Classification of Matter Vocabulary Test on Wednesday and Chapter Test on Thursday.

Students continued taking notes from the PowerPoint on the Properties of Compounds and Mixtures.  We learned the 3 characteristics of a compounds and 3 characteristics of a mixture.  Then, we compared several substances and used them to determine if the substance was a mixture or compound.  We concluded class w/the students working on the "Elements, Compounds and Mixtures WS" (39 pt).  It was assigned to be completed for homework.
