Students copied the objectives for the current chapter and began to take notes from the PowerPoint on "The Structure of the Atom". We learned the contributions of Democritus, Aristotle and John Dalton in the Atomic Theory.
Classification of Matter
Students took notes from the PowerPoint on "Classification of Matter". We learned the major classifications of matter and how they are divided.
Atomic Structure
Students completed the "Atoms: the Building Blocks of Matter" RQ (60 pt) in class. We copied the objectives from the PowerPoint the last 5 min. of class.
Classification of Matter
Students completed the "Classification of Matter" Voc. (38 pt). They then began the Properties of Matter Review Questions (60 pt).
Structure of the Atom
Students completed the "Atoms-Building Blocks" Review Questions (60 pt) in class.
Toilet Tissue/Penny Drop/Classification of Matter
Students completed the Data Analysis of the Toilet Tissue Lab (100 pt) and the Penny Drop Lab (60 pt). After completing the Data for the labs, the students began on the Classification of Matter Vocabulary (38 pt).
Matter; Properties & Change
After returning the Matter; P & C Vocabulary Test and reviewing the major mistakes, students took the Matter P & C Chapter Test (100 pt). After completing the Chapter Test, they began the Atomic Structure Vocabulary (78 pt) which they completed for homework.
Scientific Method
Students performed the scientific method on the "Toilet Tissue" Lab (100 pt) and the "Penny Drop" Lab (60 pt). They completed the lab portion in the lab and will finish the Data Table/WS tomorrow.
Matter; Properties and Change
Students took the final notes on Matter & Change from the PowerPoint. We then performed practice problems on determining % by Mass of the elements in a compound. Then, the students completed the worksheet, "% by Mass" (60 pt) for homework. They turned in the Matter; P & C Crossword Puzzle (44 pt) for homework. They will have the Matter P & C Voc. Test tomorrow and Chapter Test on Thursday.
Sci.Method & Measurements
After going over the answers to the Scientific Method and Measurements Chapter Review, students took the Test (100 pts) on the same chapter. They were reminded of the Labs tomorrow and to dress appropriately. They began the Classification of Matter Vocabulary after the test.
