Matter: Properties and Changes
Students took notes from the PowerPoint on the "Matter; Properties & Changes" as we discussed the 4 states of matter, their properties and characteristics, the kinetic theory of matter and phase changes.
Scientific Method
Students completed the Scientific Method Vocabulary (38 pts) in class and began the Scientific Process Review Questions.

Students compared intensive and extensive properties of matter as well as how to categorize the types of matter.

Students began taking notes and discussing the properties of matter and how they are used in Chemistry by taking notes from the PowerPoint
SI Lab
Students continued the SI Lab in measuring mass, volume, and distance using the correct SI lab tools. They began the data calculations to complete the lab.
Lab-Irregular Solid Density
Students performed measurements of mass and density in calculating the density of nuts, bolts, and washers in lab. After which they determined the density of the items also. After learning how to use the electronic balances for mass of the objects, they also determined the percent errors in their measurements.
SI Lab
Students began the SI Lab on measuring volume (3 ways), mass, and distance using SI units. Students will accurately use the instruments for measuring volume, mass, distance and temperature. Be sure to dress correctly tomorrow also to complete the lab.
Lab-Density of Irregular Solids
Students reviewed the details and procedures for the Density of Irregular Solids lab. We reviewed the procedures of how to use a triple beam balance and how to calculate density in 2 methods. We will complete the la on Monday. We also gave the students the new grade sheet for the 2nd 9 Weeks and the items that were on the sheet. They began the Matter; Properties and Changes Review Questions (60 pts)
