We continued learning how to write regular numbers in scientific notation as we took notes from the scientific notation PPT. We worked practice problems from the Chemistry textbook in class, after working several examples on the board.
Introduction to Chemistry
As we continued taking notes on "Introduction to Chemistry", we differentiated between mass/weight, macroscopic/microscopic, quantitative/qualitative data, models, and the major branches of chemistry. They will have a vocabulary test on this chapter on Thursday.
Rounding Numbers
Students reviewed the rules for rounding numbers to different places to the right of the decimal and without decimals. We then completed a worksheet on rounding numbers in class. (30 pt). Then, we began taking notes from the PowerPoint on writing numbers in Scientific Notation. There will be a test on Scientific Notation on Friday.
Introduction to Chemistry
As we continued the PPT on Introduction into Chemistry, students learned the effects of the chemical ozone, CFC, and how they affect life. We then, discovered the meaning of chemistry and how it was developed.
Lab Tools
Students completed the "Tools of a Physical Scientist" WS (40 pt), then took the Lab Tools Quiz (50 pt)
Introduction to Chemistry
Students took notes from the PowerPoint as we discussed the chemical ozone and its effect on life. The layers of the atmosphere and how the chemicals in the ozone layer are affected by CFC's.
Lab Equipment
Students completed the Lab Equipment notes from the PowerPoint. They then completed the Lab Equipment WS (66 pt) and Lab Tools CWP (40 pt). They will be having the Lab Tools Quiz on tomorrow.
Introduction to Chemistry
Students turned in the Matter & Change RQ (60 pts) and began taking notes on the "Introduction to Chemistry" from the PPT. They were allowed to write on How Chemistry has Changed my Life and Why do I Need to Understand Chemistry?
Lab Equipment
Students finished taking notes on the uses of the Lab Tools and turned the drawings in for a grade. Then, they began the Laboratory Equipment WS (66 pt). They have been informed of the Lab EQ Quiz on Friday.
Introduction to Chemistry
Students read the information from the textbook on Introduction to Chemistry. They answered the "Introduction to Chemistry" Review Questions (60 pt) and turned in at the end of the class.
