Students continued watching, "The Day After" video to observe the effects of radiation. Students were offered their 3rd Qtr Review Guide if they wanted to pick it up.
The Mole
Students learned how to convert moles of a compound to the mass of a compound and vice versa. After working two practice problems, students completed the Mass of Compound to Moles of compound/elements WS (30 pt).
Radioactivity
After turning in the Radioactivity Review Questions (60 pt) that they had for homework. The classes were introduced to "The Day After". After a brief introduction to the situation under which the film was designed, the circumstances to the Cold War and Cuba, students began to view "The Day After" VHS video. They were given the general expectations and what would they would be expected to experience AND aware of the questions to follow such as main characters, settings, and schemes.
The Mole
Students learned how to determine the moles of a compound from the chemical formulas and use them to form molar ratios, which will be used to find the molar mass of compounds.
Thermal Energy
Students took the Thermal Energy Chapter Test (100 pts) and began the Radioactivity Vocabulary (34 pt) for homework.
The Mole
Students completed the Mass to Atoms WS (30 pts) in class and we began to cover the topic of moles of compounds and how to determine molar ratio from formulas. The Seniors got their Review Guides for their Semester Exams.
Thermal Energy
Students answered a Thermal Energy Crossword Puzzle (38 pt) to begin class, to help them prepare for the Thermal Energy Vocabulary Test (38 pt) and then worked on the Thermal Energy Chapter Review (60 pt). They will have the Thermal Energy Chapter Test on tomorrow.
The Mole
Students completed the Mole to Mass WS (30 pts) and the Mass to Particles WS (30 pts) in class. Still using conversion factors and the concepts of how many particles are in a certain mass of an element or compound.
Thermal Energy
We concluded the PowerPoint which explain the internal combustion engine and how it uses heat to create a heat engine. We also briefly went over the strokes and how they use heat the engine of a car. We concluded talking about how heat is moved by humans and other appliances. Then, students turned in their Thermal Energy Review Questions (60 pts). They will have the Thermal Energy Voc. Test tomorrow and Chapter Test on Wednesday.
Moles
Students complete the mole to mass and vice versa practice problems and worksheets (30 pts) in class. They should now be able to explain the mole concept and convert from moles to mass and particles and vice versa.
