Students received a Bronze grade for copying the notes on the chapter from the Powerpoint that was put on Google Classroom. We then worked examples of the types of Electron Configuration with the Electron Configurations WS (68 pt). They were given the Electrons in Atoms Crossword Puzzle (50 pts) for homework to prepare for the Vocabulary and Chapter Test on tomorrow.

Students took the Atoms & the Periodic Table Voc. Test (40 pts) and completed the Atoms & the Periodic Table Ch. Review (62 pts) in class. They will have the Atoms & Periodic Table Ch. Test tomorrow. They were also given the option to pick up their 1st Qtr Exam Review Guide.

We continued discussions on the quantum model of the atom w/the contributions of the deBroglie, Schrodinger, and Heisenberg to explain the nature and existence of the electrons in atoms. Students have been reminded of the Voc. Test on Thursday, and Chapter Test on Friday as well as their 1st Sem. Exam Rev. Guides.

We concluded the notes on the chapter by stating characteristics of metals, nonmetals and metalloids. As well, we learned how to locate and identify them. Lastly, we learned how to draw Lewis dot models/electron dot diagrams for the elements. We completed an electron dot model WS (40 pts) and had the Atoms & PT Seek-n-Find WS (40 pts). They will have the Atoms and Periodic Table Voc Test on Wednesday and Chapter Test on Thursday. Again, they may pick up their 1st Sem. Exam Review Guides anytime.

We continued taking notes and discussing the theory of light as a particle and how it is proven w/experiments from Einstein and its effect on the atomic theory. The Electrons in Atoms Voc. Test will be on Thursday of this week and chapter test on Friday. Students may pick up their 1st Sem. Exam Review Guide any day this week to prepare for their 1st Semester Exam. All students were reminded to get their makeup tests done for the 2nd 9 Weeks.

Students learned the difference in groups/families and periods/series. They also learned the name of the scientist who is responsible for the 1st Periodic Table and how it differs from the current Periodic Table. We talked and demonstrated electron configuration as well as how to determine the correct number of electrons in an atom. We concluded class w/the students completing the Atomic Structure 2 WS (21 pts). They will have the Atoms & Periodic Table Voc. Test on Thursday and the Chapter Test on Friday. They may pick up their 1st Sem. Exam Review Guide any day this week. All students were reminded to get their makeup tests done for the 2nd 9 Weeks.
