Students learned how to describe matter and its states as they took notes from the Solid, Liquid, and Gases PowerPoint. We defined the states of matter and described the kinetic theory.
Structure of the Atom
Students continued taking notes on the Structure of the Atom and the scientists who developed the Atomic Theory. The new scientists were Earnest Rutherford, Robert Millikan and J. J. Thomson. Their contributions and how they reached their conclusions were also discussed.
Solids, Liquids, & Gases
Students completed the Properties of Matter Review Questions (60 pts) by reading the book today. The turned in the Review Questions at the conclusion of the period.
Structure of the Atom
Students continued taking notes from the "Structure of the Atom" PowerPoint. Specifically talking about the contributions to the atomic theory from Dalton, Thomson, and Millikan.
Classification of Matter/Solid, Liquid, and Gases
Students & teacher went over the answers to the Classification of Matter Ch. Rev. Then, they took the Classification of Matter Chapter Test (100 pt). After which they began the Solid, Liquids, and Gases Vocabulary from the board (40 pts). It is due today.
Structure of the Atom
Students completed the Structure of the Atom Vocabulary (78pts) in class. They then began the same chapters Review Questions (60pts) for homework.
Types of Properties
We continued taking notes on the types of Properties and mixtures from the PowerPoint on Classification of Matter. We went over the two types of properties and the two types of changes with examples. We concluded class with a Crossword Puzzle on the Classification of Matter. (34 pts) They will have the Classification of Matter Voc. Test on Friday and Chapter Test on Monday.
Matter; Properties & Change
Students turned in the Chapter Assessment from Matter; Properties & Change (82 pts). Then, they took the Matter; Properties and Change Chapter Test (100 pts). After the test, they began the Structure of the Atom Voc. (78 pts) for homework.
Classification of Matter
Students continued taking notes from the PowerPoint "Classification of Matter". We specifically covered types of mixtures and types of compounds. They were assigned a worksheet "Elements, Compounds and Mixtures" (39 pts) to complete in class.
Matter; Properties & Change
Students took the Matter; Properties and Change Voc. Voc. Test (50 pts) and after the Crossword Puzzle (44 pt). They also worked on They will have the Chapters Test tomorrow. Homework was the Chapter Assessment for Matter; Properties of Matter (82 pts)
