Students completed the Metric System Base Units WS (60 pts) in class; first w/out their notes and then with their notes to answer the questions that they didn't know. Then, we concluded class w/a Measurements CWP (28 pts). They will be having a Measurement Quiz on all SI units on Thursday.
% Error & Significant Figures
We discussed how to determine significant digits in measurement according to Chemistry. Then, after working several examples, began the Significant figures WS (24 pts). Then, students reviewed and worked practice problems on Percent Error prior to working the % Error WS (48 pts). They will have a Data Analysis Voc. Test (50 pts) on Wednesday and Chapter Test (100 pts) on Thursday.
SI/Measurement
Students completed the SI Measuring WS of lines in cm, mm (50 pts). Then, they began reading the chapter on "Measurement" and answering Review Questions (60 pts). They will have a Measurement Quiz (50 pts) on Thursday of this week.
English/SI Conversions
Students took the English/SI Conversions Test (50 pts) and finalized the notes on Significant Figures.
Temperature Conversions/Measuring in SI
Students took the Temperature Conversions Test (52 pts) and finished the Measuring Lines in SI WS (50 pts). We will be finalizing grades on next week for the 1st 9 Weeks.
Significant Digits/% Error
Students learned how to determine the number of significant digits in a scientific measurement and how to determine % error. We also reminded them of the English/SI Conversions Test (100 pts) on tomorrow.
Measurement
Students used their textbook and notes to complete the Measurment Voc. (40 pts). They learned how to head their papers and complete their work. They also learned about the Temperature Conversions Test on tomorrow.
English/SI/Derived Units
Students took the English/SI/Derived Units conversions test in class today.
Temperature Conversions Table
Today's focus was on reading and filling in the data from a table. We completed the temperature conversions from C-K-F using the table format. Students converted temperatures from Celsius to Kelvin and Fahrenheit (vice versa) - 40 pts. They will have a Temperature Conversions Test on Friday (40 pts). We also had a calculator Check in class today ( 10 pts)
Derived Units Conversions
Today, we worked on SI/English Conversions and conversions involving derived units in class. After working several problems on the board, students began the Derived Units Conversions WS (45 pts). They will have a SI/English Conversions Test on Thursday.
