We completed the "Mole" Review Questions (60 pts) from the textbook and began the "Mole" Notes.
Potential Energy
Students reviewed the notes on Energy. Then, we took notes on the types of potential energy. We learned the three types of potential energy. We learned the algebra to calculating the mass or height of objects that have gravitational potential energy. Finally, we concluded class with a worksheet on "Calculating Gravitational Potential Energy" (30 pts)
Chemical Reactions
4-16-18 (Monday)
Students completed the notes on Chemical Reactions from the PowerPoint discussing reactions that produce gases and water. They were given the Chemical Reactions Word Search (42 pts). They were reminded of the Chemical Reactions Voc. Test tomorrow and Chapter Test on Wednesday. Labs were to be conducted on Thursday and Friday if the materials arrive.
4-17-18 (Tuesday)
Students took the Chemical Reactions Voc. Test (36 pts) and completed the Chapter Assessment (78 pt) for homework. 6th period completed their Balancing Equations 2 WS (30 pts) also.
Air Resistance
4-16-18 (Monday)
Students conducted a lab measuring air resistance w/pieces of paper. They were to complete the lab in class and complete the data assessment afterwards and for homework (50 pts).
4-17-18 (Tuesday)
Students were given the Energy Review Questions (60 pt) to read and answer during class. Also, a bronze grade, calculator check (10 pts).
Types of Reactions
Students went over the types of reactions on the Chemical Reactions PowerPoint.
Forces
Students took the Forces Chapter Test (100 pts) after looking over the items they missed on the Vocabulary Test and Chapter Review.
Counting Atoms/Balancing Equations
Students were taught how to count atoms in compounds and compounds w/polyatomic ions as well as the rules for balancing equations. We began balancing equations for practice from the book.
Weight & Gravity
Students took notes on the Gravity, the Law of Universal Gravitation and how weight is calculated, as well as the forces on objects. They were assigned a Weight word Problem WS for homework (20 pts). Also, a calculator check was given as a bronze grade (10 pts).
Counting Atoms
Students today learned how to count atoms as well as the difference in subscripts and coefficients. We observed a podcast on counting atoms as well as completed a worksheet on Counting Atoms.
Forces & Friction
We took notes from the Power Point on friction, types of friction and how it affects motion. We also took a bronze grade on calculators (10 pts).
