Students looked up the key terms in the Periodic Law and Periodic Table Vocabulary (54 pts)
Atoms & the Periodic Table
Today, students began the Atoms & the Periodic Table Vocabulary (36 pts) and the looked up the scientists who developed the Atomic Theory (21 pts).
Electrons in Atoms
Students took the Electrons in Atoms Voc. Test today. They also began and worked on the Electrons in Atoms Chapter Assessment to prepare for the Chapter Test tomorrow. They were given the opportunity to pick up the 1st 9 Weeks Sem. Exam Review Guide also.
Solid, Liquids, and Gases
Students took the Solid, Liquids, and Gases Chapter Test (100 pts) today. They also received their 1st 9 Weeks Review Guide to begin studying for the 1st Semester Exam.
Electron Dot Notation
Students completed the Electron Configuration WS (50 pts) for homework last night and concluded class with the Electron Dot Model WS (40 pts) in class today. The notes from the Powerpoint on Valence Electrons and how to write Electron Dot Models was discussed. They also completed the Electrons in Atoms Crossword Puzzle (40 pts) in preparation for the Electrons in Atoms Voc. Test tomorrow.
Solid, Liquid, and Gases
Students completed the Solid, Liquid, and Gas Chapter Review (55 pts). They also had the Solid, Liquid, and Gas Voc. Test (40 pts). They will have the Solid, Liquid, and Gas Chapter Test on tomorrow (100 pts). The 1st Sem. Exam Review Guide will be given out after the Test.
Electron Configurations
Students completed the notes on Electrons in Atoms by learning the two ways to write electron configurations. Then, we completed the Electron Configurations WS (56 pts). We also learned how to determine Electron Dot Models and completed those WS's. Students will have the Electrons in Atoms Voc. Test on Thursday and Chapter Test on Friday.
Buoyancy
Students watched the Buoyancy Video and answered questions as they watched the video (30 pts). Then, they completed the Solid, Liquid, and Gas Seek-n-Find (42 pts) for a grade. They will have the Solid, Liquid, and Gas Voc. Test tomorrow and Chapter Test on Thursday.
Quantum Theory
We continued notes on the PowerPoint w/Electrons in Atoms. We went over the shapes of the orbitals, how many orbitals in each energy level, and began talking about the most stable configurations of the atoms using the 3 rules for Electron configurations.
Charles Law
Students copied notes from the PowerPoint on Charles Law. After discussion, we worked 3 practice problems on Charles Law on the board. Then, they were assigned the Charles Law WPWS (40 pts). They also were assigned the Solid, Liquid, and Gas CWP for Homework (42 pts). They will have the Solid, Liquid, & Gas Voc. Test on Wednesday and Chapter Test on Friday.
