Students took the Scientific Notation Test (20 pts) as soon as the bell rang. Then we began discussing the term "conversion" and learning how to write conversion factors.
Data Analysis
Students received their "Introduction to Chemistry" Chapter Test (100 pts) back turned in their Data Analysis Voc. (60 pts). They began the "Data Analysis" Review Questions(60 pts) in class and were assigned to finish them for homework.
Math Review
We reviewed how to turn a fraction into a decimal. Then, round the decimal to two real numbers to the right of the decimal. Students should be prepared for a Scientific Notation Test on tomorrow. They finished a Math Poptest (20 pts) in class and took a Math Review WS 2/3 (50 pts)for homework.
Introduction to Chemistry
Students were allowed to review the Chapter Assessment (63 pts) , the Vocabulary Test ( on the information from Introduction to Chemistry and then took the Chapter Test (100 pts) on "Introduction to Chemistry". They then began the "Data Analysis" vocabulary (60 pts).
Scientific Notation
Students were taught how to turn scientific notation regular numbers into regular numbers w/6 practice problems. Then they were given a worksheet to finish on converting scientific notation to regular numbers (50 pts). Students will have a test on "Scientific Notation" on Friday. They were instructed to be sure and have a calculator for class tomorrow. (Bronze grade)
Introduction to Chemistry
Students took the "Introduction to Chemistry" Voc. Test (60 pts) and finished the Chapter Assessment (90 pts) for homework. They will have the Introduction to Chemistry Chapter Test on Tomorrow.
Rounding Numbers; Scientific Notation
Students reviewed the steps to scientific notation and were given a "Scientific Notation" WS for finishing during class (except for 7th Period; they had it for homework). They also discussed how to round numbers and did a number in scientific notation (20 pts)
Introduction to Chemistry
Students completed the notes on "Introduction to Chemistry" PowerPoint and began the Chapter Assessment. (63 pts). They will have the "Introduction to Chemistry" Voc. Test on Tuesday and Chapter Test on Wednesday.
Scientific Notation
Students finished the notes from the PowerPoint on Scientific Notation. They learned how to determine and write the base number, and the exponent to write regular numbers in scientific notation. We also discussed rounding of numbers to correctly write the base number. They were then assigned 10 problems from the Chemistry text for homework. (20 pts)
Introduction Into Chemistry
Students completed the notes on the PowerPoint on "Introduction to Chemistry" where they learned the 5 branches of chemistry, the 9 steps to the scientific method, the 2 types of variables, 2 types of data, the two groups and how to write a hypothesis (old and new). Student's also learned how to differentiate between a hypothesis, theory, and law. Finally they copied notes on how technology has changed their lives.
