Students took the Lab Tools Quiz (50 pts). After the Quiz, they started taking notes from the PowerPoint on how to write numbers in scientific notation.
Intro. To Chemistry
As we continued taking notes on the "Intro. to Chemistry" chapter, we learned today about the steps in the scientific method and how they differ, the different types of research in chemistry and how they differ. They will have a vocabulary test on Intro. to Chemistry Voc. on Friday.
Lab Equipment, Scientific Notation
Students answered questions on a Lab Equipment WS (66 pts), then read from the Chemistry book on Scientific Notation. They were to write notes and summarize how to perform scientific notation from p.R84, answer the questions on scientific notation from p. R102, #54. They will have a Quiz on Lab Tools on tomorrow.
Introduction to Chemistry
Students took notes from the "Introduction to Chemistry" PowerPoint. They emphasized the 5 main branches of Chemistry. We also went over the steps to the Scientific Method from the text and from the previous notes. They were encouraged to learn the two types of groups in the scientific method, the two types of data and the different types of variables. The students were able to recall prior knowledge and learned new ways to explain the stages to the Scientific Method.
Lab Equipment
Students went over the lab tools from the PowerPoint for the final time. They were to check the uses that they researched against the uses from the PowerPoint. After the PowerPoint, they answered the "Tools of a Physical Scientist" (40 pts) WS. They were assigned the Lab Tools Crossword Puzzle (40 pts) for homework. They will have the Lab Tools Quiz (50 pts) on Thursday.
Intro. to Chemistry Notes
Students continued taking notes on the PowerPoint from "Introduction to Chemistry" Notes. We learned the structure and names of CFC's and how they affect us as well as the differences in mass/weight, macroscopic/microscopic. We are working towards a Vocabulary Test on Friday.
Lab Equipment
Students were allowed to view the Lab Tools PPT to learn the uses and different versions of lab tools. Students were told to correct their uses and learn the shapes and different versions of the lab tools. They then took a Lab Tools WS (66 pts). They will have a Lab Tools test on Wednesday.
Intro. to Chemistry
After turning in the Introduction to Chemistry RQ (60 pts) from homework, we began taking notes on the "Introduction to Chemistry" Notes from the PowerPoint.
Lab Equipment
Students used their phones to look up the uses of the Lab Tools that were drawn in lab yesterday. They will finish the Lab Tools Drawings (111 pts) for homework this weekend. If they finished the Lab Tools Drawings, they began the Identifying Lab Tools WS (66 pts)
Introduction to Chemistry
Students turned in their "Introduction to Chemistry" Vocabulary WS from homework (72 pts) and began the "Matter & Change" Review Questions (60 pts) in class.
