26 - Students were able to answer the "Elements" Review Questions from the Worksheet to preview the chapter. We also discussed the objectives and results in the "Balloon" Lab.
27 - Students read and outlined the notes and key concepts in "The Elements" Chapter. They worked on their outlining, reading skills and summarizing in the outline.
Students took notes from the PowerPoint on Chemical Bonding. We learned what forms chemical bonds, why they form and how to determine the difference in ions and atoms. Finally, we learned the difference in ions and atoms of the same elements.
Today, students were returned their "Periodic Table and Periodic Law" Chapter Test results. Then they began and completed the "Balloon" Lab used in the "Electrons" chapter on orbitals. They were to type up the materials used, procedures and results in a lab report due on Thursday.
Students began the PPT and notes on Chemical Bonding. We reviewed Atomic Structure and why atoms gain or lose electrons. Also, emphasizing Group names and characteristics.
We began class going over the "Periodic Table & Periodic Law" Voc. Test and the Chapter Assessment Answers. Then, students took the Periodic Table and Periodic Law Chapter Test today. They ended class working on the "Elements" Vocabulary. The Balloon Lab covering "orbitals" will be tomorrow.
Chemistry students took the Periodic Table & Periodic Law Voc. Test (50 pts - Gold)today and began the Chapter Assessment (92 pts - Silver) from their textbook. They turned in the Periodic Table & Periodic Law Seek-n-Find (42 pts - Silver) from Friday. They will have the Periodic Table and Periodic Law Ch. Test tomorrow.
Students began reading the "Chemical Bonding" chapter and answered the Review Questions during class. The Review Questions were worth 60 pts (Silver). They were to be completed by the end of the period.
All 10th graders took the ACT Aspire Test on the Chromebooks during class. There was no homework for the weekend.
10th grade students took the ACT "Aspire" Test while the 11th and 12th graders completed the "Periodic Table & Periodic Law" Seek-n-Find in preparation for their Vocabulary Test on Monday.
We completed the notes today on the Periodic Table and the Periodic Law. We discussed electronegativity and ionization energy of the elements in a period and group as well as the trends. Students were given the Review Questions from the chapter to complete for homework. All 10th graders will take the ACT Aspire Test tomorrow.
