February 28th Announcements

Mt. Laurel & OMIS upcoming 6th grade parent meeting will be held tonight at 6pm in the OMMS Cafeteria.  Doors will open at 5:40.  Please enter through door #1 at the front of the school.   Parents of upcoming 7th and 8th grade Mt. Laurel students that are interested in transferring to OMMS for the 2023-2024 school year may also attend.
SGA will meet tomorrow morning at 7:20am in C20.

Soar Mentor Group will meet today until 4:30pm in A-3.

Students should check their email for important information on joining the Library March madness Tournament!

Coding Club will meet tomorrow, from 3-4:30 p.m. in Mrs. Carter’s room. 

Congratulations to Vanessa H., 2nd place for dairy dessert and Lily S., 3rd place for chicken entrée in the Shelby County FCCLA cook off last week.

Feed the Need Kick off Event this Friday, March 3rd at 2:00pm in the gym.

The Indian Springs Village Kiwanis Club will hold a $5 Pancake Breakfast at OMMS on Saturday, March 4.We no longer have OMMS agendas available for sale.  Students should purchase a daily planner to use as their agenda from an outside source.  Students must use agendas/planners for hall passes.Reminder that yoga pants of any kind, including the style that flares at the ankle, are not in dress code and should not be worn to school.

Reminder that students should not have devices out in the hallways at any time upon arrival into the school building or during bus, carpool and athlete dismissal.

Reminder that bus transportation changes will be approved by administration for childcare or emergency purposes, not for social reasons.  If a bus transportation change is necessary, the student must have a signed parent note stating the reason for the change that has been approved by administration before riding the bus.  Notes should be turned in 24 hours in advance.

Spring photos will be taken on Wednesday, March 1st during PE classes.The OMMS Dance Team will be hosting open practices for students who are interested in preparing for tryouts each Thursday from February 16 to March 2. Students who plan to participate need to let Ms. Downs know in advance!

Dance Team Clinic & Tryouts for the 2023-2024 season will be held March 13-17 in the OMMS Gym from 3-6pm. All tryout paperwork and the $25 clinic fee are due by Wednesday March 8. The clinic fee can be paid on MySchoolBucks.

OMHS & Community Information:

The OM Color Run is happening on Saturday, March 11th at Oak Mountain State Park. All proceeds are given to the O’Neal Comprehensive Cancer Center at UAB.  Participants can visit the click here to register. Online registration is open now until March 9th. OMHS Beta Club is sponsoring a clothing drive now thru March 9th called “Don’t Wear It? Share It!” Please donate gently used clothing to be sold during a clothing sale at OMHS March 11th and 12th. All proceeds go to Foster Cares in Shelby County!!!  A drop box is located in the OMMS lobby.
