October 21 Announcements

The annual canned food drive starts Tuesday, October 22 and runs through October 29th. Please be generous and bring as many nonperishable food items as possible. We usually collect over 2,000 items to donate to Manna Ministries and Oak Mountain Missions. The items that you donate will benefit families who are in need in our community. Each grade level advisory class will compete to collect the most items for their grade level and the winner will win a pizza party. Please leave prepackaged items together. OM Missions is in great need of peanut butter and jelly, because they include these items in each bag that is given to a family. 

Start making plans now to attend the Fall Gala/Haunted House that will be held on Friday, October 25th beginning at 7pm!  More details will follow!

Phase 1 Meeting today from 3:05-4:15. Pick up is in front of the school. 

JUNA will meet after school today until 4:30pm.

SGA will meet tomorrow morning at 7:20am in Mrs. ACTON’s room.

SGA will sell “Boo Pops” during lunch next week for $1 each.  Plan to send some spookiness to your friends!

Congratulations to Brandon C. in his 4th place finish and Trishona S. in her 7th place finish for individual test scores at the UAB math tournament on Saturday.

1st Science Club meeting will be tomorrow from 3-4:30.  Make sure to bring your signed permission form.

In order for a student-athlete to go through evaluations, try-outs, or begin practice with any sports team, the student-athlete must be 100% complete on DragonFly Max (instructions attached)

Oak Mountain Girls Basketball League is now open.  Registration for girls in the 2nd-6th grades is now open through our web site www.omgb.org or by paper copy.  Please email Coach Noel if you need a form or have any questions at jnoel@shelbyed.org  Early registration cost:  $100; after October 30th cost is $125.  Evaluation/Placement Date: October 30, 2019 at OMMS 7:00-8:00pm 2nd-4th graders; 8:00-9:00pm 5th-6th graders.   Practices will begin November 5th, mainly held on Tuesdays.  Our first game will be Saturday, December 7th. 

Oak Mountain Boys Rec Basketball League registration for the boys 2nd – 6th grade rec basketball league is now open through our web site https://www.omboysrecbasketball.com/   Registration cost is $130.00.  Practices will start November 3rd with the first game on Saturday, December 7th.  All games will be played at OMMS.  Please email any questions to omboysrecbasketball@gmail.com

October 18 Announcements

OMMS Parenting Day 2019 will be on Friday October 18th. Parents are invited to come to any or all activities. 10 – 11:15AM OMMS Media Center –  Muffins and Coffee with Compact 2020 Officers  Officers from Compact 2020  will present  on Vaping and Social Media. After this parents are invited to drop in on their student’s 4th and/or 5th period class. Parents are then invited to stay for lunch with their child.

XC practice will be here at OMMS today.

After this parents are invited to drop in on their student’s 4th and/or 5th period class. Parents are then invited to stay for lunch with their child.

Our Fall book fair will be held through October 15th. Students will attend with their ELA classes. WHAT DO  YOU NEED WEDNESDAY SCHOOL SUPPLY SALE  Academic Partners and PTO will be hosting the next sale Wed, Oct 9 during lunch.  The items being offered are listed on the attached flyer.  Avoid that trip to Walmart and remember to bring your money on Wednesday and grab whatever supplies you need.  Proceeds go to support the PTO.
