Students watched a podcast of naming polyvalent (transition) element containing compounds. Then, they went over how to name transition elements w/roman numerals in ionic compounds. They also went over how to name transition elements with polyatomic ions. After going over the nomenclature, they worked on two worksheets and the same concepts.

Students learned how to write and name chemical formulas for Ionic Compounds. After finishing notes from the PowerPoint on energy in compounds, they began working on "Naming Ionic Compounds" (50 pt) and "Writing Chemical Formulas for Ionic Compounds (50 pt). They were allowed to finish the worksheets for homework overnight.
